2nd laparoscopy

I had Laparoscopy surgery around 8 years ago (where they did find endo and lasered it off). Unfortunately the last few years I've been suffering with really bad Endometriosis symptoms again. I have an appointment with my gyno this week and I'm worried if I suggest having a 2nd Laparoscopy they will say no because I've had one before.

Has anyone pushed for a 2nd surgery before in-case its come back? Im also worried if I suggest to have a 2nd Laparoscopy and the doctor doesn't find anything.

Any comments/advise will really help me - thank you in advance for your help x

I am due to have my second one in May but had my first in November last year and my gynaecologist was a little reluctant due to where the endometriosis was and wanted me to try the coil but I am fed up of trying trials so she agreed to the second one. Keep advocating for you and hopefully you’ll get some answers.

Hi Elle, I am sorry that you have endometriosis like all of us. I hope no one should ever go through this horrible pain. I read your story and its very similiar to mine. I had 7 years ago laparoscopy with laser and I also feel last two years much worse. I can tell you that in NHS they directly one year ago by themselves send me for MRI scan where i waited for half year and after i had consultation the doctor told me that I need second operation I am on endo stage 4 plus i also have adenomyosis they found this through MRI scan. I dont think so you will need to push them for it I actually think they will do this by themselves and if not, you should pay private some endo specialist and he will send you to NHS MRI scan thats exactly how i got there. if you want you can directly write me message if there is anything i can help you with. I also try to manage my symptoms with anti inflammatory foods and diet and magnesium every day and omega 3, 6 and lot of turmeric.

I have had 4 laparascopic surgeries in total. My 2nd was only 6 months after my first. The doctor told me it was unlikely to have returned so soon and there was nothing on my MRI but he found LOTS in my surgery.

You know your body and if something doesn't feel right. Endometriosis makes you doubt your sanity and feel like you are just making a fuss about nothing. But if the symptoms are bad then there is probably something to find. Don't second guess yourself.
