Hope you're all OK Just had mri results- kissing ovaries with endometrias and attached to bowel, ovaries have moved from front to back. I've been trying to highlight bowel issues with hospital and gp for over a year so glad I pushed for mri scan to clarify what's happening.
Results mean my surgery this month has been cancelled as bowel surgeon also needed and been told might get another date for 3-4 months time.
Has anyone had diagnosis of kissing ovaries and bowel attached? Any advice would be appreciated

Just to add I've consented to have tubes ovaries removed , and consented to bowel prep and surgeon being present, couldn't get a clear answer about uterus or whether they will remove , they said endo also shown on uterus
Was diagnosed as stage 3 a couple of years ago and has now progressed to stage 4 deep infiltrating. Am awaiting a surgery date at the moment and colorectal surgeons will also be involved.
I know how frustrated you probably are right now but at least they didn’t begin surgery and all of the stress that goes with that to then have to leave it and once again wait. At least they are trying to do things correctly as annoying as it may feel.
Hi thank you for your reply, sorry to hear you are also in same predicament. Have they mentioned which organs they've advised to remove? It is a little overwhelming today's news , but yes I'm glad they're not rushing ahead with surgery and then I need another surgery later with coloctorectal surgeon.
Whats scary is that if I hadn't pushed for months for mri and asked twice today if bowel surgeon needed to be there , I don't think that would be the case possibly.
The staff are very stretched all with all gynae clinics , but it's scary to think how many women must get unclear picture which leads them to decisions about surgery and then possible multiple surgeries which could have been avoided or the condition getting worse too because of misdiagnosis as doctors don't have time to think each case through with time that it needs. Sorry hope that makes sense! I'm waffling
Hope everything works out for you and you get a date for surgery real soon and it all goes smoothly xx
hi I had very similar to you with the addition of adenomyosis. I had a hysterectomy, oopherectomy and pelvic clearance in Jan this year. A bowel surgeon was present at my surgery but thankfully I didn’t need a bowel resection or stoma, they were able to shave it off my bowel. You might not know until after surgery what they had to do whilst in there but my advice would be prepare for the worst case scenario and anything less than is a bonus.
I had symptoms for 14 years before my diagnosis and surgery. I still feel let down that my condition got as bad as it did before anyone found what was wrong with me but I’m glad that I only had one surgery as the countless stories I’ve read where women have had numerous surgeries and the problems that has given them in addition to endo.
The way I coped was research so I could advocate for myself. No question is silly and the more you know the more you can process the information and hopefully control any fears. Don’t get me wrong I was super nervous but I kept telling myself they have down this so many times and hoped I would be better after with a higher quality of life than I had been living.
Wishing you the best of luck and feel free to ask me anything.
Thank you so much, its food to hear good results from hysterectomy, I've been worrying as I heard it can lead to vaginal prolapse in some people and also am worrying about stoma bag, especially now its been confirmed bowel is attached. I'm hoping they just have to detach and do something minor for bowel . So glad your operation was successful. Can I ask if they offered any follow up after the surgery and whether you need to take any medication now? Thank you xx
I was reviewed 6 weeks after surgery but haven’t had anything since although I would like to have a further MRI to make sure it’s all gone.
I take tibolone for HRT but that’s all. I was in a chemical menopause before my surgery and the side effects were horrendous but thankfully surgical menopause has been pretty easy with some hair thinning and less sleep(waking up at least once a night and then super early) but that’s all.
Everyone is different and the best way I found to look at it was what was worse - the endo/adeno or loosing some more organs. It wasn’t that easy for me to be so flippant when I was making my decision though so I fully appreciate your fears and concerns.
Hi. Sorry to hear your going through this aswell.I also got told by mri in march i have kissing ovaries at the back on my bowel and cysts on the ovaries.
Im currently waiting for full hysterectomy but signed my consent forms in july and was told 12-18 month wait.
It is awful and worrying, at the moment I'm worrying about it spreading whilst waiting for surgery date . I hope you get a surgery date real soon and it all goes smoothly , best wishes to you xx
