Post Op Periods

Hello,

I am looking for some advice on how to manage post periods, and maybe any idea on when they would settle down.

For context, I had my dx laparoscopy whilst on the last day of my period. It didn't seem to affect the timing of my cycle at all as 26 days later I had my first post-op period. That wasn't nice, it was heavy but the pain wasn't any worse than I had experienced before. My second period was a dream I barely had pain, however, it was still pretty heavy, but it was lighter than the month before and I can handle heavy bleeds.

I've just started my 3rd-period post op and it is bad, the pain was still a bit less than before the op, but the worst since the op. It's also been so heavy I actually have had to start setting alarms in the middle of the night to change my tampon, and my pad or I'll bleed everywhere!

I haven't had my post-op appointment yet, so we haven't discussed anything like hormones. I declined the coil whilst being operated on for several reasons, but mainly because in the past it hasn't actually helped with the pain, and I'd only ever have a few days a month of not bleeding.

I know the first few periods are horrific, but should I be concerned that in terms of bleeding, its getting worse?

after my diagnostic lap, my story echos yours! On holiday this summer, my husband put me on 5 days bed rest as literally if I stood up, clots and blood would leak. It was v scary.

I contacted my surgeon who prescribed transonic acid and another ‘acid’ pill. The combination worked and made things manageable again.

If it doesn’t feel right, ask for help from the place that did the surgery.

I hope you feel better soon.
