Does Zoladex become less effective after a few months?

I am in surgical menopause - 5 months in with 2 more to go before my hysterectomy. These last couple of weeks all my Endo pains seem to be creeping back in. Even the back pain and while going to the loo. Really hating it. My question is - anyone else had this? Is it wearing off?? They will have much more trouble getting all the Endo out at the surgery, if it’s bleeding again in there!!

It does for some women. I have to have my 3 month one earlier and earlier. Now I bleed every day. I'm not hemorrhaging but I have to wear protection all day every day x

I'm on Decapetyl. Now on 5th month. It's been great up until the last 10 days. My endo pain is so awful I've had to take codeine today. I've been back to the GP twice this week thinking I have a UTI due to constant feelings of needing a wee and cystitis type pain. Aching joints and headaches too. I was promoting it on here last week. I'm shocked that I now feel like this! I came on here to ask the same question and then saw your post!I'm not sure what to do as the waiting list for hysterectomy is a year x

If it is any help at all, after nearly two weeks of thinking I would have to move the surgery date because of my pains returning, eventually the Zoladex kicked in again. It’s so weird, the hot flashes are back, the aching joints are actually a good thing because that’s a symptom of lack of oestrogen (phew). It’s like there was a blockage and then suddenly the floodgates opened again. During the worst part my gynae dept wasn’t even remotely bothered because despite the pains I had no period and still had the joint pain. My fingers are crossed that this is what’s happened to you too. I hate that feeling of needing to pee!!! Worst when I’m lying down so the whole night I’m up trying to pee. So very tired! 😴. Good luck, you’ll get sorted eventually. I know it.

Thank you! That's good to hear. It sounds positive. The pain is a little better today but it's been two weeks now. The bladder discomfort is awful isn't it! Weirdly my joint pain has been better since being on Decapetyl! I don't understand that at all, unless I have adhesions left pelvis which were impacting hip? Maybe they've shrunk eh?!

Onward and upward!

Can I ask if you are on pain medication? I've had to take codeine over the weekend (30mg) as the pain has been so bad. I still had some from pulling my back a few years back. Paracetamol and ibuprofen just don't touch it! I need to discuss further with GP x

I would normally be on pain meds and certainly for those two weeks when Zoladex seemed to be ineffective, but not now. When it’s working I have only minor pains, but still very aware of pain when I sit on a hard bench (it seems to love my bowels), and trapped gas / going to the loo.

SO MUCH FUN!!! Take all the pain meds you need, you just have to get through it as best you can IMO. Good luck with it all xxx
