Can zoladex be a cure for bowel endo?

Hi all,

I was told i have endo in my bowel. I had my lap 4 weeks back. I was put on birth control pills start after the lap. I got my first zoladex 3.6 mg implant yesterday. This treatment is for 6 months and then i will have an MRI to see if the endo in my bowel has suppressed.

Can zoladex cure endo in the bowel?

Thanks.

Hi Kherle there is no cure for endo the Zoladex will possibly help with symptoms. It does take a good few weeks to settle down. Good luck.

Thanks JeanOsborne.

I think i asked the wrong question 😀.

The specialist said zoladex can suppress the endo in the bowel. After 6 months if there is no change to my endo or it gets worse he may suggest a surgery where a part of the bowel will be removed.

I hope i do not have to get this surgery done.

Ive been on it now for three months. Found out through lap in July I have severe endo and possible adenomyosis. Since then I have found out my bowel is badly stuck to uterus ind looks like the endo is infiltrating the bowel causing a blockage. In January I'm due to have a total hysterectomy, ovary removal , excision and now possible bowel resection. Since I've been on Zoladex I have felt better than I have done for a long time. I hope you find some relief.

Thanks JeanOsborne. When you say you felt better while on zoladex is it with pain management?

I have severe endo in my bowel too. My right ovary does not work any more due to severe endo inside my ovary. It was stuck to my uterus alsong with the tubes. Ovary and the tube were freed but yes it is not functional. Due to bowel endo i cannot sit for long now.

So for me it is a wait and watch game. Have you followed any endo diet like going gluten and dairy free?

I hope everything goes well with you. Take care and thanks for sharing your story with me. I feel so glad i found this community.

Cheers.

The pain is a lot better, but I also feel better in myself. Still suffer fatigue though. I tried various diets years ago when I was told I had Ibs but nothing made a difference, my bowel problems were always around my period, never believed it was Ibs as I have been having symptoms of endo for 27 years . Dr would not listen to me even though I knew something was wrong . Only heard about endo when after ttc for four years dr sent me for scan which showed 6cm endometrioma which then grew to 11cm by the time I had my lap. wish you luck.

The Zoladex actually made my bowels worse. I now take Laxido everyday, which has worked wonders. I've since found out the endo is penetrating the bowel.

In my experience no I was on zoladex for two years and it didn't shrink mine

Everyone is different though

I did however get a massive relief from zoladex with no periods etc so it's worth a go

All the best
