I have been break through bleeding whilst on the combined pill. The pill has helped my periods massively since I had my laparoscopy last year but now I've started breakthrough bleeding through 2 cycles.
I went to GP about this and they suggest I take 2x desogestrol as well as my normal pill (levest) for two weeks to help the bleeding.
This feels very severe and a lot of hormones? has anyone else been in a similar position and how have you stopped your breakthrough bleeding?
I don't know if I want to be taking 3x hormonal pills a day it seems a LOT
Any advice would be helpful, thank you and I hope you're all okay!

Hi i have had a few laparoscopys and basically they put ports inside the abdomen and inflate with gas to see the organs properly they should be some minimal scarring at the sites and you mite have gas left inside which can be a bit painful but it eventually releases and eases the pain
I have not been in your situation but I’d suggest contacting your consultant’s secretary and putting this to her. My GP refuses to answer any of my questions to do with endo - always cites ‘you are seeing an expert.’ So I use that to my advantage and keep in contact via email with the specialist centre.
My cycle has changed since my lap, I’m constantly bleeding and exhausted. Saw an endo specialist on Thursday who told me this happens to some women. If it gets smelly then get it investigated as it is a sign of infection.
As an aside, I didn’t take the GNR jabs offered as I was scared of the long list of side effects. Turns out that was the wrong move for me as my endo has continued to grow and now I’m stage 4 and looking at a hysterectomy! I now wish I’d tried what was offered.
I was told to take 2 desogestrol daily for the first 3 months I was on Prostap injection to help with bleeding, until the Prostap fully kicked in. I’ve never been on any pill before that but didn’t find any problems with it. The really heavy bleeding definitely settled down within a month or 2.
