After Hysteroscopy Update

PunkyPeanutButterCup profile image

Hi all, had a hysteroscopy Friday for mirena coil instertion as my uterus is tilted. Was a pretty brutal experience, managed to grin and bare it though and mirena was fitted. Appointment was roughly only 30 mins long, gyne could see I was in a lot of pain so worked quickly thankfully. He said he couldn't see anything untoward which is a relief.

I've still got pretty severe cramps and spasms. Bleeding heavily in the morning and evening seems to be the pattern now. He's advised I take 2 weeks of my combined pill to help things settle down.

I've tried to check for my strings today but all my muscles feel tight so unable to do this. Trying not to stress about this, will try check in a few days time and book a Dr appointment in 4-6 weeks for them to do a check.

Fay x

Hi

Are things feeling a bit better now? If you are worried the GP can check. Hope pain has settled 🙂

I'm still in a fair amount of pain but seems to ease when taking ibuprofen. Still feeling very swollen and bloated. Will book a gp appointment around the 4 week mark so they can check my strings and make sure everything's okay :) Still bleeding but not as heavy as what I was, thanks for responding!

Sorry you’re still in pain, that’s good ibuprofen is working for you, the longer you can keep on milder medication the better. You should be able to take paracetamol as well but check with the pharmacist first.

I’d book the appointment soon for four weeks otherwise you’ll end up waiting longer, they get so booked up these days.

Hope it all settles soon 🙂

I had alotta heavy cramping and spotting for around 6 weeks then everything calmed down. Past few days I have had a uti but I think that's unrelated. So hopefully things will calm down for you soon. I know my first few weeks were hell, it's not easy, hope you are coping.
