Evening 🌻

I just wondered if any of you lovely lot could advice me on prostap injections.

I had a gyno appointment this afternoon and they were offered to me as my pill doesn’t seem to be helping with my Endo pain. They had been offered upon my initial diagnosis but I said I wasn’t keen (which I’m still not) I’m only 28 and do have a young son but would like more children in the future and am worried about the affect they will have on my fertility.

I’m in the process of researching the pros and cons but wondered if anyone had any first hand experience.

Really grateful and thankful in advance.

They were fantastic for me while I was waiting for surgery, wouldn’t have liked to try to manage without them. No bleeding and significantly reduced pain was such a blessing xxx

Hi , I was on prostap for a year and half before my op I hated them joint pain was terrible and headaches . Now I have had total hysterectomy i much better.

But everyone is difffent try them out , but even my doctor said they are not good but the gyno said I had to go on them before my hysterectomy. Good luck

I was on Prostap for 9 months in between surgeries intended to improve my fertility. Ovulation returned 2 months after my last injection.

Prostap and similar drugs are used briefly in the early stages of IVF as part of horomone down regulation, so they are considered safe enough for that purpose. There is a very small risk that the effect will not be temporary but it’s less than 1% I believe. You could ask about the doctor about what the risk actually is.

Hi, I found them great, was on them for two bouts of six months a few years back and it put me in a great position before surgery, cleared up some of the endo and helped me manage with very little bleeding (old blood if anything) and reduced pain. The first time no issues. The second time I got a bit depressed so just stopped after 3 months. Ask for the 1 month depot rather than the 3 month (it kind of sits like a little tablet dissolving in your muscle over 1 or 3 months - 1 month is better as if after a few wks you realise there are any adverse reaction it is only 2 wks as opposed to 2.5 months until it is out of your body)

There isn't any impact on your fertility, it switches off the hormonal supply stimulating ovulation, whenever you stop taking it everything resumes. I got pregnant easily afterward. x
