When do good periods start after laparoscopy

hello,

I had my laparoscopy at the beginning of April when endo was confirmed and they removed all of the tissue and a cyst. Since then I have had two periods which have been the worst I have ever been.

Excruciating pain - I must say it wasn’t for the whole period but lasted a couple of days

Incredibly heavy - the heaviest it has ever been, so much that I couldn’t control it for three days and ended in A&E.

Long period - almost the whole month bleeding.

Is this normal? Is my body still recovering from surgery? When do “normal” periods will start?

Just would like to know if I there are more women going through this after the surgery

Hi there, it took around 5 months for my periods to return to normal after my laparoscopy. They were more severe for the first couple of months after the surgery - I had the same after a previous procedure and I think my body was expelling a lot after the surgery. But I noticed a big improvement in pain, length etc from the 5 month mark. Hang in there!

It took about 6mths before I actually saw the benefit of the surgery but when it kicked in I sometimes can manage without painkiller so was a massive difference! Hang in there! X

When I had my first laparoscopy many years, it took about 2-3 months for my periods to return to normal (or normal for me) I was in a lot of discomfort afterwards, but it did settle down.
