Waiting list for gynae

Hey everyone,

I’m currently trying to be diagnosed for Endo and have been really struggling with pain. I’m now on the implant to try and help with the bleeding. I still get spotting but no proper period but I still get pains when my period should’ve been due. It’s not as bad as it has been in the past but it still stops me doing day to day things. I spoke to gynae to see if my referral has been looked at and they said it was take a minimum of 45 weeks to be see by gynae. I’m just wondering if people have been sooner or is it worth going private as all I’ve been told is to keep taking my meds in the mean time.

Hello I paid privately for a consultation as it was a years wait and I was absolutely desperate. I was £200. You can then go onto the NHS list for surgery or scans etc …..

I had the implant too - it masked my symptoms! Once removed my pain and heavy bleeding started x

Definitely go private. You get a full hour and a treatment plan which can be implemented by your NHS consultant x

Hi, sorry your going through this.

I waited on NHS due to not being able to pay for private. I can't work so I was is a position to ask them to call me if they had any cancellations and this sped it up quite a bit.

Also my doctor put me on amitriptyline for the pain while I was waiting to be investigated. It's not for everyone due to the grogginess in the mornings especially when first starting on it but it really helped my pain as I was getting it everyday and was waking me up at night.

I'm still unsure of my Endo and having some issues but it's much better than before. I'm not on prescription painkillers anymore which is a relief.

I hope you find a way to get the help you need quickly as possible.

hi! i am also currently on the waiting list to see a gynaecologist and the waiting is awful! I have potential endometriosis on my bowels and bladder! Its been a few months since I have been referred and am contemplating going private as my pain is gradually getting worse but I am on the mini pill after trying so many other contraception's and find this type works perfectly at the minute as I struggle with the hormonal side of medications. I really hope you get sorted out soon! Xx
