I have experienced really painful periods since i was 15 and in the last year started get a few other symptoms. I was finally referred for a tvs and this showed a haemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary (exactly where i was feeling the pain) and when i went for another 12 weeks later, this had cleared but i now have another one on my left. My gp says suspected endo. Which was a relief but also very terrifying.
Just looking for any general advice or how long the referral takes and what the first steps they take?
i am on the mini pill for the past 1.5 years which seems like the usual advice initially.

Hiya, I was referred by my GP in Feb 2022 to a gynae and that took around a year - I had a phone appointment in Feb 2023 after which the gynae prescribed the combined pill and an external ultrasound. I have since been referred to gastroenterology and I have an appointment on Tuesday for that, but I'm hoping to go back to gynae afterwards! It depends where you are in the country I suppose, but I imagine it will be a bit of a wait for an appointment. Two years after seeing my GP and only now am I having an in person appointment (and it's not even with gynae🙃). This is just my experience though, yours may be different.
It might be useful to keep a symptom diary while you wait and maybe record what you eat as well. I didn't know to ask questions and it was a phone appointment so it felt a bit rushed. I hope this is helpful is some way!
Research wise. Best buy book is Heal Endo by Katie Edmonds. Lots of info plenty of studies and positive self care steps in the mix and well as understanding the other options that are crucial for plenty of us. Hope you get your answers soon
