My 18 year-old daughter is severely affected by the pain of endometriosis. She currently takes paracetamol, voltarol /naproxen. However, they seem to be of limited help.
Could anyone share with me succesful experiences with pain killers?
I am considering taking her to a pain clinic but not sure how to find one specifically focused on endometriosis/pelvic pain.

I would advise getting in touch with the GP and letting them know she needs a better management plan. Unfortunately it seems to be a bit of trial and error with pain relief - or so I have been told.
In my experience the next thing I tried was codeine. I had to be on a higher dose to notice any benefit but it made me really drowsy so I have now been changed to a prolonged release dihydrocodeine which doesn’t take the pain away completely but certainly makes day to day more manageable. I still feel tired but the drowsiness doesn’t hit me like a bus like the regular codeine did. That’s alongside twice a day Naproxen and Paracetamol.
The GP should be able to help with referral to a pain clinic too.
I hope this helps and your daughter finds something that works better for her. 💛
I’ve tried most things, if you want to avoid opiates try Nefopam, drs are loathe to prescribe as it’s more expensive. A pain nurse recommended Tramadol as being better than codeine. It’s all trial and error unfortunately. I’ve also tried cannabis on prescription but that’s all private still so gets expensive.
I’m currently on paracetamol, Duloxitine, Oramorph when it’s worse and Metoclopramide as anti nausea.
If you go to the BSGE website and look up your local Endo centre there will be a pain consultant mentioned. I did that initially he put me on Amitriptyline, but didn’t do much, Duloxitine is better.
Glad your daughter has your support, it’s invaluable 🙂
