Surgery cancelled

Hi All, Has anyone else experienced this? I was booked for a laproscopy on 30the Jan 2024. 2 days before i had a call to cancel it with no explanation.

Was called in to Gynaecology yesterday as the clinical director wanted to talk to me for her to tell me they wont do it now because of my weight even tho i was cleared on 2 pre ops and sat on the list for 2 years.

They now say my only option is a MRI and the coil. I just couldnt belive it. I was crying my eyes out after nearly 20 years trying to get them to help me. I am just stuck now and i dont know how to process this.

Hi

I’m so sorry you had op cancelled. I’ve no idea what your weight is but it makes me so cross with those excuses. If it was an emergency op they would do it and I’ve known people overweight who’ve had ops. I would make a complaint and speak to GP about a referral to another hospital. To me it’s a way of reducing wait lists and their reluctance to do ops for Endo. A while ago there was an article by an Endo expert saying that ops should be reduced for Endo and try hormones more. You definitely need an MRI to check severity of the disease though.

Some women find the coil helps. I think it depends on what’s going on.

Thank you for replying. I am in the low 20s on my weight i have lost 3 stone since my pre OP i think its a cop out to be honest. I have the MRI on the 5th March so hopefully that can tell me more. I may aswell try the coil now as i have tried everything else to help exept that. She saif if i can lose 5 st i can have a hysterectomy so i am working on that too now.

That’s great you’ve lost so much. I don’t understand what they are saying, low 20s for BMI is healthy.

The MRI before surgery is a good idea, gives them more information to plan with, I’m surprised they didn’t do one earlier. It’s like they forgetting woman are waiting so long.

Endo causes inflammation so we get bloating all the time which adds to the look of weight. I lost a lot of weight, still don’t know why as wasn’t planned, but my belly still looks bloated. I think they forget that as well.

It can be worth trying different things but you don’t have to be pressured into agreeing. Unfortunately we don’t know until we try as they sometimes work. We don’t get lucky enough for an instant fit everyone remedy 😂🤦‍♀️
