Really bad pelvic pain a week after manual internal examination

Hi

I have a pelvic examination by my GP by hand where they press on ovaries and feel around for lumps nothing found which is great. I had swabs taken to rule anything out this was all precausitonary as I had no symptoms of infection during this time. She said my cervix had a lot of disahcarge which made it hard to see. Also she explained that my cervix was red. She has refered me urgently to a gyne in which i haven't been in 5 years or so. However, a few hours after this examination i had cramps which can be considered normal. Now a week on I have quite bad cramp flares and painkillers do not touch the sides. I don't know what has caused this.

Any simular stories or advice will be appreciated! xx

Sorry to be blunt but did she put fingers up your vagina (and bottom?) as far as she could go and have a really good feel around high up there?

Hi yeah she went up vagina quite far but not up the bottom. I wonder why I am hurting a week on. I have had these before but never had discomfort for this long x

Just a thought, if your cervix looked abnormal and she swabbed that are I think it’s most likely related to that. I think you need to see the GP again as this new symptom may mean they want to try and get you seem sooner.

I found out yesterday that the swabs came back normal but there could still be an underlying issue there that is not an infection.

They also gave me some anti-biotics incase its a UTI. Fingers crossed the anti-biotics will resolve this! x

Have they taken a smear?

Yes I had my (first) smear in September and it came back normal. I believe the nurse said it all looked healthy at that time

If your cervix looks abnormal now I would have thought a repeat smear is indicated?

I will follow that up when I see my gynaecologist on the 16th. Will be interesting to see if they can find the source of this problem
