I've been advised by my consultant that the next step for me will likely be the removal of a 2-3 inch section of my bowel along with my uterus. I'm a bit overwhelmed at the thought of this and was hoping that there might be some members that have experienced something similar to treat endometriosis symptoms who could share their experience with me.
Thank you in advance.

Hi MrsBrocky, I went through similar in February (hysterectomy but left the ovaries, and about 12 inches of my small bowel removed). It was a huge amount to take in when they said that that was what the best course of action would be. ON the other side, my pains been much less, I’ve had issues with Bile Acid Malabsorption though (an issue specific to them taking out the last bit of the small intestine). Recovery was about 3 months. They did recently find some endo regrowth, so it’s not a guarantee that it won’t recurr.
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate you sharing that with me. I only found out this morning so still a little overwhelmed at the prospect of such a major surgery and trying to find out what other people have experienced in similar situations.I'm definitely aware that regrowth is likely with this condition. I only had about 13 or 14 months pain free after my 1st surgery before I noticed symptoms recurring which was very disappointing, I had hoped for longer. It's a worry that ill go through a major surgery and be back in the same boat not long after but there are few options available unfortunately.
Yep it’s a lot. Have you got friends and family you can talk about it with? Talking it through can help shrink the enormity of it a bit. Really feel for you, look after yourself. Lots of people have great experiences after surgery too x
I am also at the same stage as you, I have a consultant appointment next week to discuss my next steps. I have bowel endo but the last scan I had was this time last year so not even sure if it has spread further... I understand how you’re feeling. I’m so overwhelmed and I think it does make it harder knowing surgery still won’t be a cure and the multiple things that can happen in surgery. Hope things go well for you though and it provides you with some relief
