Hello,

I had diagnostic laparoscopy 1 week ago, (where I was told no endo found but the gynaecologists told me just before I was heading up for surgery he wasn’t going to check my bowel or bladder where most of my symptoms are, only my reproductive organs 🙄 all he seemed to be concerned with) my recovery has went quite well apart from being angry and feeling sorry for myself, until last night and today I’m getting the worst pain where they went through my belly button. Is this normal to regress or have I maybe been overdoing it thinking I’m okay? I came on my period 3 days ago and have been in agony with that worse than where my incisions were, would this alter my recovery? Just so confused that I feel worse today when I had got better.

I had a laparoscopy in July 2021 diagnosing stage 4 endo affecting my bowel, bladder and uterus and recovered well but when i got my first period in the August after surgery, it was one of the most painful periods I've ever had. Felt like someone was rubbing my insides with sandpaper. It might be that your hormones are triggering some pain.

Concerning to hear that your gynae did not check your other organs during the procedure - when you're going to all the trouble of surgery you'd imagine it's best to check out everything while you're there.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for your reply.

Yeah this is the worst I’ve had too 🙈 glad it’s somewhat normal, supposed we’re used to the pain but this is making me feel sick how bad it is.

Nothing was mentioned in the run up to it that he wouldn’t be checking there and when he said it just before I was going up I was in shock and just didn’t say anything. I don’t think he was a endo specialist gynae just regular gynae only concerned with reproductive organs. Going to go back to my GP and ask to be referred to an actual endo specialist been suffering with this for too long to just give up because they’ve said they didn’t see anything.

Thank you x

Hi, I had my lap 1.5 weeks ago and made the mistake of doing too much too quickly. I came back to work 5 days after the lap even though the nurse said expect to be off for 2 weeks. I very rapidly realised that although i felt up to coming to work, i really needed to comfy of home to be able to go at my own pace, sit in a comfortable position and nap if i got tired. It could be that you need some more time, but I would recommend contacting the hospital you were at to let them know your symptoms - it could be the start of an infection. Also, did they find any endo? If they didn't, I know it can be upsetting but don't be too hard on yourself - take some time to recover and then keep fighting for a diagnosis. They didn't find any with mine but I know that so many women report that endo is missed on the initial lap. Don't give up - only you know what you are going through :) be your own advocate.
