Hello, I am writing today for advice - I am 40 year old, waiting for a Hysterectomy in Scotland. Suspected Endometriosis due to pain and bleeding, this is being managed with Provera and transexamic acid.
Anyway, the most recent problem is bleeding from my bottom. Spoke to GP and had blood tests and the QFit test (poo sample). Had an examination today by the GP and they found no piles or fissures. The poo test came back with blood in it. I am being referred for a colonoscopy now to check if this is related to my Gynae problems or is something else. Have to get more bloods taken too.
Is this similar to anyone elses experiences here? I am thinking possible bowel Endo, or is it something worse? Am trying not to panic, but my tummy hurts all the time, particularly in mornings and when I need to use the toilet. I am bleeding most days from one place or other!
Thanks in advance

Hi Kittie, I've exactly the same experience, I've had rectal bleeding for about 2 months. I had a laparoscopy recently to remove endometriosis and a large cyst from my ovaries and the gynaecologist told me he saw I have endometriosis on my bowel too. But he actually thinks the bleeding is caused by another condition potentially as it doesn't coincide with my period, it's midway during my cycle and it's light rather than dark red. So I'm going for a colonoscopy in 3 weeks to rule out any other conditions e.g. haemorrhoids. Also I've been told before that bowel endometriosis may not show up on the colonoscopy, just to flag. I've similar symptoms to you, lots of cramping when I use the toilet and in the abdominal area generally but some of the bowel symptoms seem to have actually improved since they removed a large cyst that was stuck to my left ovary. Anyways I completely get the anxiety over the cause of the bleeding but at least the colonoscopy should help to rule out certain conditions and hopefully put your mind at rest. Sending support your way and hope we both get answers soon xxx
Hi, similar hear using the toilet hurts, my abdomen hurts all the time. Flares worse if I need the loo. I had a colonoscopy to rule out of conditions check for endo and it came back all clear I've had heavy cyclical rectal bleeding over a year and I'm awaiting an MRI, the colonoscopy may not give you anything but its better to rule stuff out
Hello Giraffe, yes I think my GP wants to rule out anything else, rather than assume it is all to do with the Gynae problems, which is fair enough. I just can believe how complex these issues are though, because everything inside can be connected.
It can be incredibly confusing I know from my experience I had a subpar laporoscopy so I don't have all the information I need and its hard to know if your symptoms are endo related or something new. My best advice would be just to try not to think about it,I know that's not easy though oh and if you have a choice be sedated for the colonoscopy
Hi there. I have diagnosed bowel endo at last two laps. I had some dark blood in my poo so was referred for a colonoscopy like you to rule out anything else. It was all clear so assuming now it's endo related. I get the painful bowel movements, flares when I need to move my bowels etc too. I would advise having the sedation for the colonoscooy if offered as the procedure can be move painful for endo patients who already experience pain connected with bowel.
Wishing you all the best and hope you get your op soon. I presume the will clear out any endo for you when you have the hysterectomy?
