Hi Guys,

I was diagnosed with endo in January. I am really struggling with weight gain ( not sure if it is related) Do you have any advice on what exercises are comfortable as I am scared to go to the gym and causing myself more pain.

Hi, Are you taking any drugs for Endo firstly?

Yes exercise is important. I do stretch exercise at home using a large ball while watching TV. Pilates and Yoga as well. Some dancing at home. I do short high energy walks. I changed my diet, cutout Lactose, Wheat, Banana, Avocado as these create inflammation. I take painkillers, Antihaistmes, Fennel Tea for cramps, Belladonna for cramps. I eat more fruit and green veg everyday. I take high dose Vit C and D3, Zinc. I use a 10's Machine to help with pain. Its important to pace yourself. I have more rest, sleep.

Get you bloods checked for Diabetes and Thyroid issues.

Sorry to hear your concerns.

Best wishes

Hi again. Yes probably Zoladex.

Yes there is some weight gain with this drug for some to a extra Stone.

A Pituary type drug to stop the Estrogen can effect the Thyroid so still get the bloods checked.

I found this drug good. It took several months to settle into it. It helped me continue working, improved quality of life.

I took it for about 10yrs in all. Though on my real menopause age which was at about 50yrs I did get Thyroid issues, balance, issues and it made my mood lower.

I found having the injection painful but I told to pinch the skin up gently then when I would say pinch hard now then she would put it in. It seemed to work better that way. I also kept EMLA prescription cream at home, applied alternative sides half hr before covering with clingfilm inside my underwear before the Implant. After a few yrs my Specialist allowed 3mth lasting implants which so much better.

x

I was on decepeptyl injection to shut off the ovaries and I gained weight, it slowly comes off when you stop these injections. Hormone therapy for me always makes me gain weight, regardless of what I do, even looking at a chocolate bar and not eating it made me put on weight lol x

Hi,I do loads of types of exercise and dip in and out. Sometimes I cycle when I'm not sore underneath. It helps with back pain. I swim all the time but I ditched the pool because I was so uncomfortable needing to pee all the time in the hot water. I prefer open water swimming in my wetsuit with tow float. When I get in, the cold reduces painful inflammation. And when I'm tired I roll my head onto my tow float and look at the sky.

When I couldn't walk from pain I looked up videos online and followed sitting weights exercise classes for multiple sclerosis just to bring my mental health back up. I was giving up at that point. I was losing the will to fight at that point, but it was enough to say ' f u' to the pain I'm still moving.

If you are not in too much pain and you have more movement someone on here made a good point if you have bowel endo it's important to do crunches sit ups abdominal exercises as your front muscles will be pulled and lax by the tight areas on the spine! Just a thought!

Try looking at this @corerecoverypt on insta. A Dr of physio specialised in pelvic floor and endo care with a breathing and exercise programme. I found it invaluable as well as giving you information about how it helps with endo and endo management. She works well with Katie Edmonds approach which you can find on her feed and book of same name @heal.endo

hun this sounds like me. It’s your hormones hun. On top for me am on medication that gives me the munchies so I do eat a tad bit. I can’t seem to loose weight. The thing for me is the pain is chronic so can hardly walk. And because of this haven’t exercised for a long while. Would love to be pain free and go swimming . But I just tire so easily . I’m 37 so for me my weight has gone south anyway. But the likelihood is endo plays havoc with your hormones so can cause you to gain weight.
