Endometriosis weight gain

Hi lovelies,

After suffering for 7 years I got diagnosed with Endometriosis. I was never taken seriously when I said I have extremely pain period. I have been trying to get pregnant for a while and nothing was happening so approached them GP and they did an ultrasound only to find I have multiple ovarian cysts (endometrioma) and endometriosis.

I am suffering through extreme pain throughout my cycle and have been prescribed Codine + paracetamol, to be honest they don’t work hence I am always tired possibly because of the immense pain. To top it all I have put on so much weight. I eat clean and have a healthy lifestyle food wise, I am unable to workout as it is too painful to do anything.

I am on the waiting list for lap, fingers-crossed. Did any of you ladies have weight related problem and did it go away after lap?

P.S apologies for such a long post.

Hi! Sorry that you're suffering!

Have your ovarian cysts been diagnosed as endometioma's already, or do you think that's what they are?

I had a big cyst that, during my last lap, was found to be an endometioma. During the lap, it was excised. I was told if it had been a cyst they'd have left it as it likely would have gone away on its own.

Once it was removed, my pain was better - but that could have been also due to having other areas removed as well.

I have also put on a lot of weight and can't seem to shift it - I've raised the concern with my GP and been told it's not related to endo. But I'm convinced it is!

Thank you for replying. I have 5 cysts, 2 on the left ovary and 3 on the right. One of the left one is 7cm, they said it is endometrioma. Also, because sudden busy changes I have difficulty accepting it and feel like I slipping in depression. I spoke the GP with all my concerns but they keep fob’in me off.

Hello I am the same I have been on a waiting list to see a gynaecologist for over 18 months.

When I chased it up I was told There is a year of people in front of me in the queue which is unreal!

I have put on weight that I just can’t shift also and it’s really getting me down as well as dealing with horrific pain

I hope you get answers soon xx

Hi 👋Sorry to hear you are struggling, hope you get your lap soon! I have found the same, I have put weight on after I had a laparoscopy but I have had to go back to my gynae because things haven't been better since. I do also find I am very often very bloated as well which makes me feel even heavier, do you find the same? X

I am exactly the same, so bloated and so painful. I am also extremely tired all the time and that makes very easily irritated….

So sorry to hear this 😢 it is awful isn't it. I think they call it endo belly and it is real. I'm looking into probiotics at the moment to see if it helps (I also have ibs so hopefully that might help with both) but I do drink peppermint tea or dr stuarts detox tea which does help bring my bloating down a bit... it's not a fix all thing but it helps me sometimes x

I am exactly the same. I seem to also be due on my period all tec time, ( I get crazy pMS. 2 weeks before my period and 2 weeks after it never ends. I also get awful pain every day of the month ) which in turn increases my appetite so it’s an uphill battle If you ever want to chat. Just message me xx

Hi 👋 that sounds awful 😪 I understand the pain bit, mine is sometimes throughout the month and not just during my period. Where are you up to with gynaes etc at the moment? Xx

I’ve been told I will need to wait 1 year to see someone at my local hospital but there’s apparently A NHS service at a local private hospital Ian due to see someone in October, it’s still a long time off I just hope they are faster than the actual NHS xx

From what I hear about the waiting times at the moment it sounds like it will be much quicker. Hope it comes around soon and you get the help you need xx

I hope so i’m finding myself losing my patience all the time because of the pain I unfortunately lucky enough to have two small children but looking after them when I’m in constant pain is taking it out of me xx

That's understandable, constant pain is awful even when you do have the opportunity to rest up etc. Just look after yourself the best you can, if you need a rant or anything just message xx
