Has anyone gained weight through having endo? I was always pretty slim but over the last 6 months Ive put on some weight and can't seem to shift it even though I go to the gym and during the week I eat sensibly. I feel completely ballooned out all the time. Any tips welcome.

Weight gain
Hi mlou, is it you’re putting on weight all over or do you feel it confined to say the abdomen area? The reason I ask is when I found I was bloating and gaining weight on my abdomen turned out to be a really large endo cyst and pelvic inflammation.
Whereas when I’ve put on weight all over it’s been due to the pill I’ve been on. Are you on a contraceptive as treatment for endo? It can honestly go either way, lose weight / gain weight and I’ve also seen it where there’s been no change at all for maybe even a year and then suddenly it makes you gain weight - and because it’s due to the pill hormones you can’t shift it no matter what diet change / exercise.
If you’re not on any pills I would just advise you flag it to your doctor - they tend not to take these things seriously, especially if you’re still at a healthy weight, but kick up a fuss because it isn’t right. And request an ultrasound while you’re at it in case there is any new cysts or inflammations causing new hormonal imbalances.
Thanks for the reply, sorry to hear that. mainly the abdomen area and hips I'm not on any contraceptive treatment the pill didn't agree with me and gave me an upset stomach. I'm awaiting to have laparoscopy exsition to have endo removed, no cysts were detected when I had the 1st procedure to see what was going on inside. The consultant has recommend having the marina coil whilst having op but I've heard mixed reviews. I hope maybe after having the op I won't feel so ballooned out. X
Oh tell me about, have tried countless pills and like you have avoided the coil for now because sounds very hit and miss - plus heard some horror stories of doctors refusing to remove it 😳
It could be the endo just messing with your hormones and affecting your weight - hopefully the surgery helps rebalance things. I’m not sure what to advise as it sounds you’re already eating well and exercising 🤷🏻♀️ Wish you a safe surgery and speedy recovery x
I have had 3 mirena coils in and out since 2007. They were life changing. Just a panty liner for a 3 day period. No pain. Heaven!
10 mins of discomfort getting it in and getting them out is straightforward.
I bled a bit after first one was inserted for 24 hours and then good enough for my honeymoon 😉 (am now divorced 🙈🙈🙈) that’s another story!!
The last one I bled for 7 days as my Endo is bad....hysterectomy bad.
My case they were a hit!
Glad you had a good experience with the coil did it help with your hormones as well as the pain side of things? X
Absolutely made me feel amazing. It was after lap and ablation, Injection and then Mirena.
Still had a massive Endo belly on my wedding pics and someone asked if I was pregnant. Have never been pregnant....because of Mirena and always been on the pill due to Endo.
Next hysterectomy is my only option now. Preparing for that!
Today I cried on The Pharmasist and poured it all out.....
Better after I got the diclofenac in me! Life can be so hard and this is an especially cruel disease. I am due my zolodex on Monday and got hot flashes.
I am loosing weight though and this is very positive!
Yes I have and now working to eat plant based, move my body more. In yoga and in walking and the gym. You know, so much toxic psychological crap in diet culture put pressure on me. But we all have a chronic illness.
I have Endo belly and all that - just decided to accept I have been on loads of contraceptive pills since early teens, all attributed to endo.
Just made peace with myself and on a journey with health. Bigger bodies and smaller bodies can be healthy or unhealthy as so many factors to consider.
Working on loving my body and all she’s carried me through. I am doing my best and I am enough in a bigger body or a smaller body x x x x x x
That's a great way to be and a great outlook wish I could be more like you. Keep doing what your doing 💪 x
My friend is @wethrive on Instagram and they talk about bodies in this way and have taught me so much 💖💖💖💖💖 It’s really hard for me to reach this place and got so much to learn.
I refuse to be a victim of this disease am gonna keep rising up and lifting others with me 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
