prostrap weight gain

Hello, I wanted to ask others who are also ok prostrap if you have had similar experiences to me.

I was put on prostrap in June. First was the 3 month injection and then switched to monthly. Every month on it, I feel like I am loosing myself more and more. The weight gain is unreal and I think it’s mostly water retention. I look like I am nine months pregnant and in the past 2 weeks I have made significant changes to my diet but no change and still so uncomfortable with my body,

I tried to talk to my endo nurse who said the HRT is causing these symptoms and not the injection itself. She changed me from the latch to tiboline. I haven’t even started taking the new one yet and I still feel so big and bloated. I feel like my face has changed as well. I was considering Botox, weight loss is ejections before I realised it’s likely just the injection.

I am thinking of stopping it for a at least a month as I take it at home myself. Has anime experienced this and did the weight come off when you stopped taking it?

hi! Oh my goodness this could be writing this post! I have only been on prostrap a month and I am taking tibolone too and the weight gain is ridiculous! I have past mental health history with disordered eating and I am trying so hard to not let it trigger all that as have been doing really well for years! I think it is mostly water retention as even though the scales have gone up my clothes still feel ok. I have plateaued now but desperately trying to get the 10 pounds I have put on in just 3 weeks off! I have had no appetite since starting the injection so I have been eating smaller meals so the weight gain was a huge shock! I’ve been told by the nurse too that it’s the HRT that causes the weight gain but I have to take it alongside the injection as without can apparently causes issues with your bones. I am on the monthly injection currently and I will not be seen in clinic till I have completed the 6 month course! I hope you are able to find what works for you but it is so difficult and I feel like I have lost myself too and I am happy that it’s cold and dark so I can just hide myself away at home! Take care x x

I put on 2.5 stone in the 10 months I was on it, my face went all moon shaped too. I didn’t start tibilone until 6 months into the monthly injections but had to stop it after a month due to side effects so I know it was the injections to blame for the weight gain. It did come off over the course of around 5 months after I stopped the injection. I was on it to shrink a huge fibroid but stopped taking it because it wasn’t working anymore for the last 5 months of the injection.

Hello

Yes this injection has this side effect. Drs will argue it doesn’t. It isn’t the hrt patch or pulls it is the injection. Because it is a false menopause and weigh changes are common in menopause anyway it’s just a body reaction thing. I was on zoladex then prostap for nearly two years with Evorel patches prior to a hysterectomy. I lost over 3 stone prior to surgery. It can be done but oh my it’s hard. I had to do 30mins cardio workout everyday to try to get there. Now I’ve had the op and I’m still on hrt I’ve gained about half a stone. My diet has changed drastically mainly because I had an emergency colostomy operation at the same time as womb and bowel were fused. My exercise has changed but until I have the reversal next year it’s a fight I know I won’t win yet. Keep positive, don’t stop the treatment and have a break, it will only send your body/hormones into yet another tizzy. You can get through this, it’s only a temporary thing till you and the consultants decide the next step. Good luck, you’ve got this.

I gained over 3 stone on prostap!

What annoyed me the most was when I told the gyno I was worried about how much weight I was gaining they said go on a diet, then for the next 3 years told me I was too overweight for surgery.

I am slowly losing the weight but still have about a stone to go to be back to my pre prostap size.

They also told me I needed to go back on it for six months before they would consider me for surgery so back to the catch 22 of being overweight for surgery again.

I tried to explain this to them but as they still seem to believe prostap is the bees knees in endo treatment and it is the best for everyone so I may as well talk to the wall as no response is better than the tripe they try to feed me
