Surgery waiting list whilst on Zoladex

Hi all!

Quick question, just called my surgeons secretary to discuss coming to the end of my current zoladex injections and to chase up the surgery times and she told me the routine wait is one year, however because I'm on zoladex I'm on a different surgery waiting list.

Has anyone heard of this before? I am waiting for a hysterectomy.

Thanks

X

I thought you couldn’t stay on zoladex and other variants for that long because of the side effects? That seems a poor ‘reward’ for compromising your health in other ways to get relief

5-7 years??!! Omg what area of UK are you in? 🥺

Hi

I think because your classed as already in the system as your having treatment it’s a bit different.

Hi,

I had an appointment yesterday regarding discussion hysterectomy.

My surgery will be in edinburgh,I mentioned to the Dr I was aware the waiting list was possible 2 years long due to the back log,she said she could tell me where I was on the list which surprised me. She said I was near the top which means I could be operated on in the next 2-3 months as I'm marked as urgent.that took me by surprise,so I've had to start decapeptyl injections yesterday to shrink the endo.im nervous about all the risks.

I think it depends where you live and the waiting list times there . I think my surgery could be soon as got my pre op testing letter , but that will make it almost a year since they added me to the list . The consultant at the time said within 3-6 months as urgent but that’s turned into 10-11months so far . I’m in Manchester . I hope your area is quicker . Just to let you know I did Prostap injections for 6 months but didn’t want to take it for longer . Sounds like you are on a similar thing . I hope they get you sorted soon x

Hi Spangalow07!

I've been on Zoladex for 6 months now, been on the surgery list since July 2022. My op should be in November (fingers crossed). I'm on a separate wait list as I'm having a hysterectomy but my MRI shows the endo could be stuck to the bowel, so they have a different wait list for people who need two surgeons present.

Have you been told anything like that? Or is it just because you're on Zoladex that you're on a different list? Definitely follow it up and ask some more questions
