Hi All, has anyone postponed one of their monthly Zoladex injections by a week? Any issues in that week?
My situation is that I have a consultant appointment to review how I’ve got on with Zoladex (and, on the basis of my response, aid the decision making process on how much to do in surgery) booked 4 days after my 3rd injection.
I’m wondering whether to postpone the 3rd Zoladex to the next week in case they decide I don’t need to have it anymore in the consultation and save me another month of Zoladex effects.
I appreciate its early days (into my second month now) but the degree of pain from that first flare surely flags that oestrogen-responsive tissue is at play in the symptoms. I also haven’t been able to tolerate HRT with it due to thundercrack headaches (Tibolone) so am loathed to take Zoladex when I’m not feeling great on it as it is.
Also - I wanted to ask the consultant whether it’s unhelpful to suppress and decrease deposits with Zoladex before surgery (where I want him to clear it out!) and don’t want a surgery date to be delayed further by me taking an unnecessary Zoladex.
Sorry long post. Just lots of uncertainty for a brain that already overthinks!

In my experience don’t delay the injection. Mine was a day late over the Christmas holidays and oh boy, next thing everything stops working and I’ve been bleeding since February. Been changed to prostap, no different. Having a total hysterectomy in October. I always keep my injection appointment and I even have one booked for October incase my surgery is cancelled. My view is that it’s easier to cancel these days instead of make! You are like you say in early days, it can take 3 months to settle. The zoladex stops the deposits growing with the hormones that feed them being stopped, so even though the side effects can be rough I try to hope it means that it’s doing something to help. I try to think of it as pre op prep. Hope that helps good luck.
Thank you for this! It’s only a short course - 3 months of Zoladex, I just worry that it might mean deposits will be missed if it’s done too soon before surgery and I’ll have regretted going through total hystectomy. That, or I’ll end up having surgery delayed further which, like the rest of us, is a hard concept atm. Hope your op goes well! X
Thanks. I want to try to hold off the 3rd until I’ve seen the consultant. I feel pretty down and no energy at all with them atm. Hard to see any benefit taking it, although i appreciate it’s early days yet 🥺
I've had 6 injections and did feel like that at first but now feeling fine just a few hot flushes now having them every 3months as I don't see the reason of having a hysterectomy when there is no guarantee that endometriosis won't come back ,
Is that the higher strength Zoladex every 3 months? I’m a bit worried long term as not great with hormones at all (HRT - tried it and awful headaches and gastritis like pain) and I have osteopaenia so can’t take a gnrh analogue for too long. My course was to decide on amount of tissue/reproductive system to remove at time of next lap. Also ‘thick’ US ligaments and endo signs around base of uterus/vagina, and poss endo/scar tissue trapping my ovaries against pelvic wall. And, when left to bleed normally, I need iron infusions which gps leave until the last minute (ie on my knees) before referring for. Feels like there is no win in any situation 🥺
