Wish me luck, I'm nervous. Having ovarian cystectomy, endometrial ablation and mirena. 😬 Did anyone take wind medication afterwards? Lol.

Hi there,

Good luck with your op!

I took peppermint tea to help with the gas. My hospital had some too.

Also, you may need laxatives to help you go to the loo. I took some herbal over the counter ones which helped immensley as you dont want to put pressure on any organs.

Best of luck! Second what the person above said about gentle laxatives, hopefully the hospital will give you some but I bought some laxido (movicol) which was helpful esp when taking stronger painkillers and unable to walk that much. Peppermint tea is a good shout, and also things like ear plugs and an eye mask depending how long you're in hospital for. Wishing you well with it all!

Hi this might be a little late but l had lap surgery 4 weeks ago for completion of hysterectomy and stomach wash. My experience couldn’t have been better, my anaesthetist exorcised all the gas from me before l woke and have had no pain what so ever. Yes it has taken til now to begin to get back my energy levels but at 76 years of age l cannot expect miracles. I really hope you have a similar experience.

That's really great. I'm glad it all went well for you. Honestly I had barely any shoulder pain too, I think we might be in the lucky few. Having said that my stomach is tender.. crikey 😆.

Hi, do take that tummy tenderness as your body’s way of reminding you you need to give yourself time to heal, gently gently at first and add a little over your 6 weeks recovery time. If you are a driver you might like to get a seat belt pillow for when your 6 weeks are up and you have your freedom back 🤗 l ordered one from ETSY and it has been a God send for me.
