pain, bloating, just feeling crap!

hi guys,

I was only diagnosed with endo end of last year. I had gone in to be serialised and asked while the surgeon was doing it could he look for endo. (Previous consultant I went to and asked to start exploring that I might have endo told be I defo didn’t and tested me for an sti instead and suggested that oreganos my long term partner had been else where!!!!)

Anyway of course all sti tests come back negative from myself and my partner (good job because I had his baggage packed!!)

I struggle with taking the pill. I have tried so many over the years but no matter what type I end up being sick between 1-3 days of starting them. So after years of suffering with hormones etc I decided being sterilised was a good option. Lo and behold while the surgeon did it he found endo! I was told when I woke up like it was nothing and he will see me in a years time. Had my discharge letter to say it’s stage 2 and I basically need to live with it for an other year and I will go back to see him to see how I’m getting on.

Now I’m not getting on too well. I know stage 2 isn’t very bad but the pain I’m in is terrible some days. Some days I can’t stand up straight. The bloat I have is awful - I feel huge and look pregnant.

My question to you guys is 1) what can I do to help the pain? I’m desperate!

And 2) how can I help the bloat? It’s making me really self conscious.

endo is really effecting me mentally but I don’t feel I can talk to anyone about it as it really is just seen as a women’s problem that I should just get on with.

Any advice given would be amazing as we are just sort of left after with no support!

Wish things were different for us and Endo was taken seriously

Hi Fredshop

Sorry to hear you're in a lot of pain. Many women find that a heat pack helps to reduce pain, but there are lots of options out there so hopefully you'll be able to find something that works for you. Take a look at our website at endometriosis-uk.org/pain-r... to review the options.

As for beating the bloat, many people find that changing their diet helps. Having said this, what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another so I'd recommend seeking advice from a qualified nutritional therapist. Many offer free introductory sessions so you can find one that you feel comfortable with. Visit bant.org.uk

Alternatively, there's a great book on endometriosis and nutrition called 'Endometriosis - A guide to healing through nutrition by Dian Shepperson Mills' that you may want to read.

Wishing you all the best x
