Very sore when I pee after lap. Is this normal?

I had my laparoscopy yesterday and have peed quite a lot but it has been extremely stingy. It also has a bad smell to it. Is this normal to have after this surgery

That wasn't my experience, I'd check in with doc as might have an infection.

I found it really painful for the first few days then it settled down. No smell though, just stinging and burning pain

Could be an infection but could also be irritation from the catheter!

definitely get check for a urine infection! Catheterisation is common for causing infections.

Hallo, the strong smell could either be an infection or dehydration - if you were nil by mouth yesterday for your lap, it could be that you just need to drink more fluids. Worth giving that a try while you wait for the doctor to test for an infection?

Thank you all for your replies, doctor has gave me antibiotics and also has sent my urine away for testing as there is more white blood cells in it than there should be. Currently struggling a lot with dizziness, heart palpitations and nearly fainting. Just not having a good time at all
