Recovery after lap, obliterated Pouch of Douglas

Hello,

I am looking for some advice. I had a lap 5 weeks ago to remove endometriosis. They found an obliterated POD, womb stuck to bowel and cyst on left ovary. It was all excised, cyst removed and ovary reconstructed. I also had the mirena coil inserted to help with adenomyosis.

Some pain has gone which is great, but the bowel issues remain. I know it is early days yet but I wondered if anyone else had rectal pressure and ibs like symptoms remain after surgery. Just looking for some reassurance really. I have completely overhauled my diet, I am now gluten, dairy and sugar free. Hoping this helps too. Any advice really appreciated.

Xx

How are you feeling now? I had laparoscopy with excision over 2 wks ago. Mirena fitted at same time. Bruised from left hip to mid belly. Bowel issues and pressure in bowel and bladder. Now have a cold/cough which is really not helping. Been gluten and dairy free since January xx

Oh you poor thing. It's such a trauma to the body usbt it. How are you feeling? Yes, I had a big bruise on the right and it was agony for about 4 weeks. My recovery took a long time. I am up and down, hoping my periods stop with the mirena and other cyclical bowel issues stop too. Bowel issues and pressure remain but I'm doing the anti inflammatory diet, supplements and eliminating plastics and toxins from my home and products. Hoping it will all help.

Hope you are both okay, can I ask what made you decide to change diet? Is it to do with endo

Hi - It can be that gluten and dairy can cause inflammation within the bowel and so it makes endo near or on the bowel worse. Everyone is different however. x
