Help with bloating

Hi there, I’m struggling with bloating and I never used to have this before (or I wasn’t aware). It’s so uncomfortable when I’m sitting down or wearing trousers. Does anyone have some advice on how to beat the bloat?

hello, now i’m not sure if this will help in any way but i used to be the worst for bloating and it was so uncomfortable and i hated it so much but someone in my family had tried drinking diet drinks or less sugary and told me that i would bloat less and it’s been a month or two and i have really noticed a change, not a major change but after eating my stomach doesn’t feel bloated as much as it used to

Peppermint tea, peppermind capsules, also cut out anything fizzy, look into a Low Fodmap diet, do a gentle tummy massage using some oil or moisturiser, there is lots of tips on google, good luck its the worse isnt it x

My other half is coeliac so I find myself eating a lot less gluten than I used to and I think that helps. I definitely notice the instant bloating more if I eat something convenient or have the occasional fizzy drink.

I tend to wear bloat friendly dresses and recently invested in harem style trousers. These have been a lifesaver for comfort and camouflaging the bloat belly. For anything zip & button fastening I carry an elastic band/hair toggle with me so I can discreetly let out the waist band for instant relief

Hi! I was struggling with this a lot to the last couple of months. The main thing I focused on was diet and I also started being more careful about when I took my medication (ie. making sure to take it with food) as I think that may have been causing an upset tummy.

My diet was already fairly good so it felt annoying to think I had to cut out the little treats and caffeine / alcohol so I've ready just cut down slightly. I have found having oats every morning has helped with keeping me more regular again and I start the day off with less bloat.

I know it is hard to get a hold of GPs sometimes as well, but if it is a change for you, it could be worth speaking to them so they can assess your medication and give you advice :) Good luck!

I have stage 4 endo. I have painful bloating to the point I no longer wear pants with buttons. I even have to cut the elastic out of the front of my underwear. It seems worse during my period but happens almost daily now. I was just diagnosed with Sjogrens disease and am being worked up for ceoliac but even if it comes up negative I may decide to cut gluten. I dont have a good diet so I have a lot of room for improvement there. But plenty of other folks eat whatever and don’t bloat. Especially this painful kind. Like tender. If my 5 year old hugs me too hard it hurts a lot. I wear loose waist athletic type pants and I need support on my stomach so I bought a pregnancy belly band on Amazon. They aren’t tight or constricted. Just supportive. It’s hard to tell what’s what if you have more than one illness but it seems diet is a big factor either way. I started seeing a Nutrition specialist to help me to that end. It’s private pay (I’m in US) but totally worth it.

Hmmm I find lemon juice in hot water every morning before breakfast to be helpful, as is peppermint tea at the end of the day. How is your diet? Do you eat a lot of wheat/gluten, dairy, sugary and starchy foods? If so, it'll be wise to cut down and use subs, e.g. gluten free bread and pasta, brown rice, quinoa, etc. When I had significant bloating last year, the worst I've ever experienced, I tried the candida diet. Candida represents overgrowth of yeast in the gut, which can happen with women going through hormonal changes or on the contraceptive pill. The diet made me realise just how much sugar I consume! I did it hardcore for 4 weeks and then slowly introduced foods back into my diet. It definitely helped.

Wish you all the best x
