I got annoyed with a family member yesterday who told me she read a very good article on-line that endometriosis does NOT cause bloating. I don’t think this is correct as my symptoms started with bloating and pain. What are your thoughts?
Ps, I hope you are all ok 🙂

100% bloating with endo. I’m suffering bad with it now. So bad that my sister thought I was pregnant. People that don’t suffer shouldn’t comment on it. My partner is exactly the same. Told him to do research and come back and tell me I’m not suffering x
I can go from flat tummy to 4 months pregnant and back within the space of a day people who don't have this illness should just back off when you read other womens posts you will see that some symptoms are common others not my best advise is to ignore ignorant if well meaning people and buy loads of elasticated pants they help so much as they allow our tummy to swell and don't cut in and add even more pressure on to an already sore area.
I agree with others that people shouldn’t comment on you if they don’t have the disease. I had a problem with bloating as well and had people say it was because I ate too much bad food and was just getting fat which is not what you want to hear. What I set out to do was to try cutting out different foods or drinks and see if that made a difference. I was lucky in that the first thing I tried was coffee, which I absolutely love, and that stopped me looking four months pregnant. But I understand the frustration of having to breathe in all the time so people don’t comment on it 😩. Have you tried cutting out different things to see if food is a trigger?
Hi thank you for your reply. Oh yes! I have been told my diet is terrible etc. I am a vegetarian, I work as a nurse so always rushing around. I do Pilates, walking and swimming to try and help the damaged ligaments from endo and badly done hysterectomy. So not that unfit. I have tried gluten free diet with no luck. Currently trying lacto free. It’s so frustrating. It was my mum who upset me. I think she is fed up of me being in pain so trying to make out it’s diet not endo.
I start swelling up during my shifts at work or by the afternoon if not working. I am drinking more water incase that is the problem. I only have 2-3 cups of tea a day and approx 3 weak. decaf coffees a week.
I think I will direct my mum to the endometriosis site for accurate information!
Err you definitely bloat up from endometriosis and fibroids. It's one of the most common side effects of the illness. Most women I've met who have the illness all have one thing in common, the random bloating if the stomach where you look pregnant . I'm one of those women. I used to have a completely flat stomach up until 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with the illness. I look around 4 months pregnant. And it's not squishy or fat. It's rock hard.
Don't let others who are ignorant to the illness tell you about it when you're the one experiencing it.
Thank you. So sorry you have it too. I was diagnosed in 2003 but was never given correct treatment. Had complete hysterectomy and another excision Feb 2016 then another excision July 2017. Still have pain. Endo specialists x two won’t help and pain team “can’t help”. At my wits end now! X
Oh my goodness. I am sorry you are going through all of this! Sending lots of love and positive and healing vibes your way!!
My doctors are the same; they keep testing out different pain killers and hormone therapies (something which I'm sick of - the side effects are horrible).
You should perhaps ask to be transferred to another pain team. I am surprised they're not offering you proper pain treatment for all the pain you're going through! Endometriosis pain is no joke! Xx
I work with one of the anaesthetist who I saw in the pain team clinic so I will try and ask him. I am on pregabalin but it’s such a horrible drug and not helping much. I hope you get the help you need too. X
