I'm one of the lucky ones to finally have surgery, unfortunately for me a hysterectomy was my only choice left. I know it might not be the end of endo but I've made my peace with it and anything to try and have less pain, I'll do it.
Anyway, it's almost been a week and the pain is starting to kick in more. Just wondered what have others have taken or used to help ease pain and discomfort? Not just talking medication but anything else.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Firstly, I’m sorry you had to have a hysterectomy and endometriosis and gotten to that point. But glad you’ve made peace with the choice. I’m too awaiting a total hysterectomy at 34. I’m completely decimated with endometriosis and my Fallopian tube is swelling now like an ectopic pregnancy but with fluid assumed to be blood. Sadly, I’m that bad that a private doctor I seen for my private mri pretty much confirmed hysterectomy was all I really had left, as it was the best option for their field of working.
I’m gonna follow along for future advice hopefully.
But I hear evening primrose is really good and calcium tablets for after a hysterectomy.
I’m on opioid pain patch, and I’d swear by it for bad pain. But lower level you still need paracetamol sadly.
Anatome is a brand of vitamins they have a range for menopause women, maybe they’d be of some use to you also. I swear by the brand but haven’t used this particular concoction as of yet, but I will.
Hope something I’ve said can be of some benefit to you, and this significantly reduces your Endo and need for surgeries xx
I have mine booked next week. I’m 41, so following with interest! I was recommended Andrea mcleans book, which I’ve been reading to help me deal with my nerves.
Heya. I didn't have a total, as we decided to leave my ovaries as I can't take HRT due to migraines.I'm going to look into everything you've suggested.
It's 3 weeks on now, still some pain but some days are better than others.
I am going to have a similar journey but on the waiting list that’s 9-12 months long and can’t work. Waiting on benefits decision. Might be here a while. Anyways you made it to the other side - yay 😁
For pain you can give mindfulness a go (headspace app subscription and they have something on pain).
You can do box breath work - look on You Tube for free.
I meditate daily as it helps me. Also can be found on you tube - have a look.
I eat mostly a plant based diet as it reduces inflammation and the hormones in meat/dairy don’t feed the Endo. For this I have a coach who helps me, gifted to me.
For sleep I use Lavendar oil and serenity by doterra essential oils. I usually diffuse their balance blend as that’s good for balancing mood and getting me out of thinking and back into being.
Mental health is key around pain and so I nurture myself and think positively as this is a discipline that takes time. I always try and make sure I am super kind to myself.
I got a second hand foot spa from Facebook for £8 and I soak my feet with lovely oils and Epsom salts - this makes me feel better 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
All this stuff helps with pain - psychological stuff and medicine can work together beautifully!!
Sorry I don’t have a quick magic wand 🪄 but if I did I would help you.
Hiya. I didn't really get much time to prepare. I've been waiting since December 2020 but got a call a few days before surgery. The only prep I managed to do was get some new nighties and some maxi dresses so I don't have anything tight round my stomach. I didn't have a full hysterectomy as I still need my ovaries as I can't have HRT. I also suffer with migraines with aura. The op went well as far as I know, just waiting to hear everything back from my consultant.
I've been giving meditation a go and it does help. 3 weeks on and it's slowly getting better, just sleeping lots as I get tired much quicker than usual. I do manage to get out on the weekend so I don't go crazy from being housebound.
