So I started HRT just over a week ago as addback therapy while I am on Decapeptyl injections. I was experiencing hot flushes and low mood which have improved but over the last 24/48 hours my endo pains are back with a vengeance and have started a period like bleed.
I had been pain free since starting the injections and had hoped this was the start of the end....when I can finally have my hysterectomy but now I just feel at a loss again 😭
Does anyone know if the bleeding/pain will ease off if I persevere on HRT for a week or so more?

Hi. I don't have answers but I wanted to reach out. I started on decapeptyl in January and started livial HRT 10 days ago. Prior to the HRT I had no pains at all (bliss) but horrific hot flushes. Now I have had some endo pain and still having the hot flushes. I know I need to give the hrt longer but worried it is making things worse not better.
Hi there just wanted to reach out as well..I’ve been on Prostap since January which was really helping. Had my second injection 3 weeks ago with HRT tibolone for the first time and have been having some pain again and last week light bleeding every day, and today have been having really bad pains 😞 I’m hoping it will settle down soon but just wanted to say it’s horrible and I know how you feel x
I’m on the same but have HRT patches, they seem to be much better at controlling things. That said, I didn’t have any bleeding or pain when I started HRT with either form so would be worth speaking to your GP/ consultant x
Hi there, I want to let you know you’re not alone. I am on decapeptyl injections and add back hrt. The first month or so on the jags made my pelvic pain and bleeding worse but calmed down thereafter. I had crazy hot flushes and the hrt had really helped that. I’d had a break from the jags then started up again and so I went through the exact same again... worse before it got better. I feel the hrt side effects are more manageable than being on the jag without it. Flushes, vaginal dryness etc. I’m on the list to have my ovaries removed but there is such a backlog just now so no idea how long that is going to take. I hope it settles down for you soon x
I on the injection and patches. This is my third round of it (my consultant has enforced breaks). The first time was dreadful as I had the coil in. They eventually had to take it out during the first break period. The 2nd round was life changing, the first month or so is hard but then the relief comes. I have bleed all through my injection periods then have no period when I finish for a few months after but my dr doesn’t know why this happens which is a little unsettling but I’m putting it down to one of those things. Currently I’m in the first month of a new cycle on the injections and it’s rubbish, pain, bleeding, migraines and mood dips but I know the relief is around the corner so hang in there and if after a month it’s not settling head back to your doc. I am thankfully having a full hysterectomy in October very nervous but also looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel! Hang in there and just keep moving forward in any way possible you are not alone x
Thank you. This is really helpful! Can I ask how long it took for you to get your surgery appointment? I am waiting for a hysterectomy too but it feels like it will be years before I get a date and they are keeping me on the injections and HRT until then.I hope everything goes well in October, I can completely understand how you're feeling as I don't even have an operation date and I already feel relieved to know that one day it will all be over... Albeit a scary procedure to get to that point 😔
Its taken me a while to get to this point but it’s a long story. My current doc is through private health from work. I had a bad experience on the NHS I was hospitalised by my GP with pain and then told that basically it’s not that bad so either put up with it or have kids. The ladies in the ward thought I was going deck the doctor! I stayed away from Doc’s for a while after that but I couldn’t continue so have been with her three years. she has been good but had to try a number of different things before she would offer me a hysterectomy which was only 2 months ago. Unfortunately I have chosen to have my op in October due to circumstances I can’t control. I could have it sooner and wish I could but the recovery time is the issue so had to postpone. It’s not ideal but I am so lucky to be at this point and October will be here in no time. Hang in there and stay strong don’t take any rubbish from the doc’s ask questions. I wish I had learnt that sooner! Other thing is make sure you are on the list for the surgery then call up and speak to admissions requesting to go on the cancellation list (as long as your circumstances allow you to drop everything and have the op) it can bump you up the list massively.
Sorry to hear this. Its too common a situation! I have been struggling with those conversations since I was 18... Now 33 and finally getting somewhere!Great tip to give them a call and try ti get on the cancellation list, I will give them a call today.
I really hope Oct does come around quickly for you and you're recovery is ok/quick!
