Hey all. Any insight on this would be really helpful. I had my first laparoscopy with a specialist consultant in Ireland, alongside excision of stage 2 endo and a Mirena coil inserted during the op.
My recovery was great, but as my period was due 10 days post op I was unsure if I would have one. It arrived exactly on my due date and was painful, but a different kind of painful to what I’d normally experience. I’ve now been bleeding for 10 days, albeit lightly at times, but the pain has been constant.
I know I shouldn’t run before I can walk and I’m still recovering, it would just be really helpful to hear of other peoples experiences to settle my anxiety.
Thank you in advance ♥️

I had my laparoscopy back in Novemeber and my period was similar to yours, painful but in a different way. It was towards the end of my Nexplanon implant but my period was light for 16-20 days following my laparoscopy. I've since stopped having my periods when I got my implant replaced (so far).
From previous experiences with the Mirena coil, it can take some time to settle. Hopefully, you'll see a benefit soon. But if the length of your period or anything else becomes a problem consider talking to your GP about your options. I was told with the implant they like us to have it in for 6 months before considering taking it out if there any problems. There might be a similar time frame with the coil, but you would have to check. But don't worry you'll have options going forward.
These are my own words and don't necessarily reflect the information from Endometriosis-UK.
Hi. Was searching the forum and came across your post. Was wondering whether your bleeding / pain settled down and how long you bled for that first period?
Your situation sounds like it was similar to mine now. Had my lap and mirena fitted just over four weeks ago. Had what I think was a period just after where I bled for about a week. Then nothing for a few weeks but then I started bleeding again with quite a bit of pain like pre-lap. The bleeding seems to vary a lot in terms of how heavy it is.
Just looking for some reassurance this will settle and is normal!!
