Hi all,
Since my last post I’ve changed my gynaecologist to a BSGE accredited endometriosis excision specialist. That was honestly the best advice and I got it from your replies so thank you!
My new consultant has been so supportive and understanding. He booked me in for an MRI and a radiologist specialising in determining endo from an MRI did the report. The results showed that I have bilateral endometriomas. The cyst in my right ovary is measuring at 15x12x9.5 and the cyst in my left ovary is measuring at 7x7x6. I also have a lot of endo in and around my pelvis. I have adhesions on my bladder and bowel and I have extensive adenomyosis.
After hearing all of that I was beyond overwhelmed and my consultant said that because of the size of the cysts, laparoscopy would not be a good option right now. Instead he suggested a laparotomy (vertical incision) which would go ahead in June. Another option we discussed was to start on Prostap to put me into the medical menopause with the goal of hopefully shrinking the cysts. Then he would take a look in august after my exams and submissions to determine whether to continue with a laparoscopy or laparotomy.
In the end we decided to go with the prostap and surgery in august and I started the injection soon after the consultation alongside HRT.
I’m 21 and this is all very new to me, if anyone has had any similar experiences or results I’d really appreciate your advice.
Thanks X
