Hello! What would you do with a 5 cm endometrioma? Will surgery help? Or are there any other ways to live with it? Will it grow without any treatment? What does your experience show? Thank you for your help!

Growing endometrioma

Hi, I had a 12cm endometrioma on my left ovary, which I had removed (amongst other things) in November and my ovary was stitched back up. I was in a huge amount of pain to the point I struggled to walk and work. I’ve found surgery has helped, I still have pain but it’s much more manageable now. Mine grew pretty quickly, and I’m glad I had surgery to remove it. 🤞 it doesn’t come back. The decision to have surgery can be daunting, but the amount of pain I was in was horrendous. Hope this helps
Hey, I had a 10cm cyst removed from my left ovary in Oct. I was getting a pain in my left side all day everyday and noticed a pain in my bowel. The consultant said that it needed to be removed as they can end up bursting and causing complications. But I think it is possible for them to become much larger even than mine. My surgery was also to diagnose Endometriosis and have loads of lesions removed in order for me to conceive. They said they were shocked with what they found as my bowel is now fused to my womb. So I would say it is worth having surgery to understand fully what is going on as they can’t diagnose endometriosis fully from just from a scan. Surgery has also made the pain so much better. It took a couple of weeks to recover, but I’m so glad I had it and now know fully what’s happing inside. I wish you all the best x
Thank you very much! I am very glad that surgery helped you! I am thinking about it. Do you happen to know if there are medical ways to treat these cysts or stop them from growing?
Sorry for my late reply. My gynaecologist said that it would need to be removed. I am not sure about it growing back, I guess each case is different. I have heard some peoples has come back quickly and others haven’t had it return. I’m not sure if the contraceptive pill would slow the growth, but might be worth asking the GP or an Endo specialist. I hope you manage to get the info you need and that you’re not in too much pain.
This is so helpful. I have bilateral endometriomas that are large and they're kissing. So adhered to One another. Also adenomyosis and bowel DIE and also my bowel is adhered to my uterus. I'm 36 and was diagnosed via mri and ultrasound. A lap will happen this year. How are you feeling now?
Sorry to hear that you’re going through a similar thing but glad you are getting help. My periods are still painful on the first day and I get awful leg and lower back pain before and for quite a few days after my period. I think this is due to the adhesions on the bowel pushing on the sciatic nerve. Weirdly I didn’t have the leg pain before op. I think because they’ve cleared out and around my ovaries and tubes that that pain has gone and now I can just really feel it on the bowel. I’m due to have an MRI at some point soon and then bowel surgery. I’m hoping to have a second baby before anymore surgery though. I hope that you aren’t waiting too long for your laparoscopy and that everything goes well x
