2 months post lap + mirena insertion

Hi,

I was diagnosed with endometriosis mid-December following a laparoscopy. I had the mirena coil inserted and my consultant assured me that as my endo was removed (ablation) I would no longer suffer any painful symptoms. I find I’m still in quite a lot of pain with the same symptoms I had before my lap. I just wondered if anyone was in the same position as me or if it is too early yet to notice improvements following the procedure and it will get better.

Thanks x

Hi ,

i’ve just had the hormonal coil inserted (this week!) and am still in pain. I’ve been told it can take up to 6 months (!?) to start to settle down. don’t know if this helps?

Yes I had this put in during op. I still bleed for a bit for a few months I’m sure then it settled down. I found it worked about 2 years then the pain and bleeding started again. I was put onto cerazette aswell but still a bit sore and bleed randomly but was on and off. Deffo helped though

i tried cerazette and didn’t get on with it at all haha. crazy how body’s react to things differently! The pill i was put on after (gederal) worked amazingly for me ; no periods , no pain. it was great !

Totally. Everyone’s body is different. The cerazette I was on whilst having the mirena coil in, 2 years into it but I don’t think that pill would work on it’s own for me. All the pills seem to make me worse. Hopefully the coil settles dow for you and starts to help as it did for me xx

Hi, It depends on how heavy your flow was and how long the coil has been in for?

For me I'm stage four so it will me complicated,

The coil helped me with the flow - so now Im not flooding any more and the period was so much better, also the monthly cycle pain is next to nothing so it helped with the period alot,

But sadly for me the endro is back and doing some odd stuff inside and I feel discomfort all the time.

But if ur period is not calming down by next month I would speak to GP or Gyne again, as it could mean the coil has moved out of place...

I have a miren coil too and this is the second one they had to do as the first one moved out of place,

Good luck and my prays are with you,

Thank you for sharing your experience, it is useful to hear. Sorry to hear you have stage 4. My flow has improved but not the pain. Hopefully it is still early days
