Hi guys, just wondering what your experiences with the Depo injection for endo are like? I was on Norriday after my lap in September but i was still bleeding a lot and still experiencing pain so he has given me the depo injection. My specialist believes he took all the endometriosis away during the lap and there should be no pain but this is not the case unfortunately.
Depo injection : Hi guys, just wondering... - Endometriosis UK
Depo injection
Morning lovely,
I was on depo for 8 years from 16 years old (at the time, it was suggested for "period pains" as I can't use the combined pill). I never even knew about endometriosis then. My periods stopped after 3 months but I used to get sharp one sided pains every month where I could hardly sit down (I now know that it was ovulation pains because I'm not on any hormones now & that's the pain I get every month). I gained a lot of weight over that time (2 1/2 stone), struggled with depression & my libido took a nosedive.
After stopping the depo, my painful periods came back, so I had them plus the ovulation pains - which got worse. Still was told it was normal then.
Tried depo again 3 years later but this time I kept getting breakthrough bleeding & random cramping, along with intense ovulation pains. Mood changes & libido loss came back with a vengeance. Similar story with mini pill & implant. The only thing I haven't tried is the mirena coil... Which will be fitted at my laparoscopy appointment... Hoping not to get those same side effects, but not too optimistic.
So, 2 quite different experiences with depo from the same person - perhaps the difference between the 2 was that I had less endometriosis tissue the first time around?? 🤷🏻♀️
Anyhow, I'm still waiting for my diagnostic laparoscopy appointment to come through.
Sorry to hear you're still in pain after laparoscopy. Was it excision or laser ablation?
All the best xx
