Hello everyone,

Hi,
I’ve been on the depo injection on and off since my first surgery in 2018 (off because they put me through the menopause twice). I found it did help to a certain extent but I think the pain always breaks through eventually but out of all the treatments I’ve been on depo has defs been the best plus it stops your periods which is also great!
How often are your injections? Mine are every 10 weeks so you could mention that next time you go xx
Getting the Depo injection was the worst mistake of my life! I went from 9st to 13st in the space of a year. It completely messed up my hormones and I started to lactate - without being pregnant.
I was the poster girl at work as to why not to have it.
My periods completely stopped and I just couldn't for the life of me lose the weight. My appetite actually never increased and I continued doing my aerobics 3 times a week as I always had done.
NEVER EVER AGAIN!
I went on it Sept 2019 to help control the pain and periods. It actually made the pain I have worse, but my gynaecologist suspects it could be because I don't react well to progesterone and has suggested I try the combined pill. I will be giving this a go as I don't feel the injection is agreeing with me very well. It has stopped my periods but I appear to be getting some breakthrough bleeding atm. Other than this I didn't really have any other side efftects but of course it can work differently on different people.
Hope you find something that works for you soon 💕
Thank you for your response.
I really hope I do too, I’m really struggling to deal with these pains and tiredness. Have you found something that helps you?
I'll not be taking the depo inj anymore so I hope that I'll start to feel better after I switch to the pill. Sometimes it's a bit of trial and error with contraception.
I was taking agnus cactus (or however you spell it) for the tiredness and mood swings but I didn't think it worked for me but everyone is different. Sometimes all you can do is be kind to yourself and go for a nap if you don't feel great.
I’ve been on this for nearly 2 years and it’s stopped my periods still get pains but see how it goes as everyone is different with it, I have mine every 10 weeks due to endo and adeno xx
Thank you for your response.
Yeah my GP told me I might have to go on it every 10 weeks.
I’m worried that this is not going to agree with me as it didn’t when I was in my teens.
How long does it take until you no it’s agreeing with your body? X
