I started on the depo nearly 5 years ago (aged 14) before I knew I had endo but loved the idea it would stop my periods as they were always painful.
The injection worked amazingly for me for a few years actually, still get I'll as if it's on other organs you may get a "back period" I still get symptoms but slightly milder than without it.
It no longer works for me however I feel this is because the gp messed up and took me off it for 3 months, again before I knew, and I had been really ill which then led to getting a diagnosis.
I think its massively down to the person, I will be going on the marina coil as I have been told by the specialist it is good for endo.
Depo takes maybe 6/12 months to properly take affect for reducing symptoms in my case btw, but it may be a good route to try. Increase you calcium if you do though as a side affect can be that your bones become more brittle
I’ve been on the depo just over two years and other than the first week I haven’t had a single bleed I do still get occasional cramps and bad back ache but it’s worked great for me, obviously everybody is different but I’ve heard it’s very common for bleeding to stop
I’ve definitely heard more positive than negative from other people that I know who have had it! The only thing is I have gained around 3 stone in total but if it helps with the bleeding I would rather that x
I’ve been in depo for a long time and it has been amazing for me. Most of the time I have forgotten about having endo because my symptoms were so well controlled. Did you decide to try depo and if so can I ask if your injections will be continuing during this isolation/social distancing period of time? x
Hello there. I haven’t tried it yet, couldn’t get an appointment with consultant until mid April and that’s probably out of the window now anyway! I stopped the mini pill as bleeding so long was making me feel fed up. I don’t really get much in the way of endo symptoms except period pains so the injection was more to stop it spreading while I wait for menopause. My main fear is gaining a lot of weight as I’m very short and becoming very overweight is going to add a new lot of health issues!
Just getting on with things through this current crisis and eventually will see consultant and get his opinion.
I was on depo for years it took all my endo pain aware but BEWARE it thins your bones and I am now left with Oesteopenia ( early stages of Oesteoperosis) and im only 42 , im convinced that its as a result of the depo. Id recommend you take vitamin d daily whilst on the depo and ask for a bone density scan every few years.
Hello, I had endo surgery then started cerelle pill and bled daily for 3 months it was awful. So I decided to have the depo injection the day of my injection my bleeding stopped and I haven’t bled since. I’ve now had my second depo injection. It’s the best choice I ever made and wish I made sooner. I’ve had no flare up what so ever. It’s been absolutely amazing for me. I’ve also had none of the side effects either.
