Hope everyone is ok. I have been battling extreme period pain for as long as I have had a period, so 13 years now (I am 24 now and started my periods at 11), I have had every contraception you can think of, ultrasounds and even a diagnostic lap and every test the doctors have done has come back with nothing is wrong. For the last 7 months I have been on the zoladex injection and it has worked wonders, until this month where I have gone down hill. I have been in excruciating pain for over 11 days now, eventually on Sunday it got too much and I went to my local A&E department, got given morphine and told to come back today for more ultrasounds. These have come back normal too.
I am now really stuck on what do, every doctor I see just wants to push me with more pain killers and send me on my way as if nothing is wrong. I am truly giving up hope, I am not a hypochondriac and truly believe there is something wrong somewhere but because the ‘normal’ tests are not showing anything they won’t do anything and have told me there is no department to refer me to. There is a family history of endometriosis and my mum had a full hysterectomy when she was just 30 years old.
Has anyone been in or currently going through this? What have you done about it and do you have any advice on next steps? I cannot keep living like this and it is having such an effect on every part of my physical and mental health because I keep being turned away.
Thank you ❤️

Hi there. I was so sorry to read your story and so sad on your behalf that you keep getting turned away by Drs. My daughter has also been suffering for 13 years ( she is now 27) and was diagnosed with endometriosis after her first laparoscopy when she was 16. She has had 4 laparoscopies in total. The first one did not show endometriosis but her consultant said that from her symptoms that did not mean it wasn’t there ( it showed up on subsequent laparoscopies). How long ago was your laparoscopy? Would you be able to ask to be referred for another? My daughter is very fortunate in having a G.P and a consultant who always listen to her worries and I so hope that you find someone to listen to you soon. Wishing you all the very best.
Hi Vannyp, thanks so much for replying! My first lap was in August 2019 so quite sometime ago now. I am waiting for my consultant to give me a call regarding next steps and I think I will be asking for another lap and possibly an MRI scan. Starting to feel like I am going slightly mad now being told I have nothing wrong with me for so long 🥺. Hope your daughter has got support ❤️
Hi there. It must be so hard to keep positive when you are being told there is nothing wrong with you. Hopefully your consultant will agree to another laparoscopy and MRI scan and you can finally get some answers. Seeing what my lovely daughter goes through on a daily basis you have my utmost sympathy and admiration. Take care.
