Laparoscopy wait time during Covid-19

Hello, I'm new here! Does anyone know what the rough wait time is for a laparoscopy operation in the North West? I've been put on the waiting list since 7th September but haven't heard from my doctors. I've got a 7cm cyst on my left ovary and I don't know urgent they class our cases.

Hi

Not quite the same as I’ve had a lap and MRI and I am waiting for referral to a BSGE gynaecologist in Manchester. In September the told me it would likely be December before I got an appointment x

It’s so frustrating having to wait without even any sort of time frame but I’m sure they have reasons. I recently had an MRI too and that’s when I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. Do you know how they work out what stage Endometriosis you’re is and how they work it out? I was never told by my doctor x

I'm in the Northwest had lap in feb and have just had my appointment with specialist endo consultant.

I asked about endo stage and he told me it was based on an out of date American system which only involved endo on ovaries and not surrounding areas so he doesn't use this system.

Hi, I’m also new here! My last appointment with my gynaecologist was 22nd September where they put me on a waiting list for a laparoscopy to remove a cyst and check for endometriosis. I’ve been struggling a lot with the pain recently and had to take 3 days off work this week, so I called them yesterday to see if they could give me a rough idea of when to expect a date and they told me they have me pencilled in for 13th November, which is only two weeks away. So maybe give them a call and see if they can give you an update, it might be sooner than you think.

You should call the admissions and ask them. It’s been since August that I’m on waiting list. (They told me 2 days ago that it could take longer than 6months to have a date..)

They have a list for “last minute call”. Meaning if someone cancels in a timely manner, they could call me to see if I am available.

They probably have the same system in your hospital! You should try to give them a call and see !

Good luck to you.

It’s best to call your gynaecologist’s secretary as they organise dates for your op :)

Hi, I don’t know if this is going to me much help. I live in Newcastle and went for a gynae appointment yesturday (2ndNov) and been given 27thNov for my Laparoscopy and Cystoscopy so 24days!!! By the sounds of things to me is the wait in my area isn’t long at all. Perhaps it’s different in different areas? X
