I had my telephone hospital appointment on Tuesday and as the plan always was, I’m being signed off for surgery which they are hoping will be early next year, if not sooner providing they have any cancellations.
For anyone who has recently had surgery, did you have to self isolate beforehand? And did that include isolating from those you live with?
I know my surgery is a long way off and things may have changed by then but I’m just curious.
Thank you!

Hi, I had my pre-op assessment last week, part of that determined whether I would need to isolate for 3 days or 14 days prior to surgery - this will come down to many different circumstances (for me it is 3 days) but there will be some isolation although this will be dependent of where we are with Covid when your surgery comes around. Either all members of the household isolate from the outside world or you isolate from them away in your own room, this would mean completely limiting contact with them, use a separate bathroom if possible or clean between use, was also reminded of good hand hygiene. It will all come down to your circumstances but isolation will be important to lower your risk and risk to hospital staff.
