I have my pre-admission appointment for endoscopy and hysteroscopy on Thursday (27th) then I have to go into the hospital on Monday 31st for a covid test and my surgery is on 3rd feb. I’ve only had all this confirmed today so haven’t got my letters and information through the post yet. Do I have to self - isolate from Monday after having the covid test? Unsure on what the rules are around this and feeling quite nervous about it all as I work in a school and not sure if they will allow me to have the time off because of the short notice!

Do I have to self-isolate before laparoscopy?
Hi, yes you will have to isolate from the date you have your covid test. I think that’s pretty standard now if you are going into hospital for any procedure. I’ve been advised that this will happen whenever I get a date through x
I'm going in shortly and yes my whole household have to isolate from Covid test to me going in. At my hospital only three days before so not a huge problem, but maybe phone the admissions team at yours to ask what the situation is. x
My daughter had a laparoscopy last Friday. She had her covid swab on the Tuesday and pre op on Wednesday by phone. I asked about having to self isolate and was told that it is advised but not essential. We thought it better for her to isolate as we didn’t want to take the risk of her picking anything up.
Yes once youve had the covid swab you are asked then to self isolate before being admitted to hospital. Once admitted youll be on a green ward where all patients are covid negative and have been tested prior to surgery. Good luck x
Yes, I had a laparoscopy last week and my whole household has to self isolate from when I had my swab, or I had to isolate alone within an area of my house. Good luck with your surgery x
