Bleeding for 13 days

Hello ladies...hope you’re all doing well.

So I’ve been in my period for 13 days so far. I know that it may be because of endo and fibroids but my period never goes beyond 7 days. Unless I’m taking contraceptive pills. I have tried to get an appointment with my GP but no luck so far. Any advice or ideas on what can I do, if I should be alarmed, or anything would be welcome.

Have they ever checked you for adenomyosis? It’s endos evil twin sister. It grows in the uterus muscle lining where it can’t be removed except by hysterectomy. My surgeon said Endo causes more pain and less bleeding issues but adenomyosis causes less pain and more bleeding issues. They put me on a mirena iud to help but I’m still getting a lot of cramping and spotting 6 months out.

I would get on the phone and see if you can get an appointment with your gp. You shouldn’t bleed for two weeks straight. It’s horrible for your iron levels. I would maybe think about a contraceptive that you might be willing to take to help with easing these periods. You don’t have to suffer!

I haven’t been checked for adenomyosis... usually I don’t bleed much and get a lot of pain. But this time you’re right a lot of bleeding but not much cramping actually. I’ve been trying to get an appointment but with covid it’s pretty hard. I also started taking an iron supplements just in case. Thank you for your advice 🙏 😊

Hi there, I saw your post about adenomyosis I’ve recently been diagnosed but don’t really know anything about it - do you know if internal scans can trigger bleeding? I have had two cases of prolonged bleeding now - one seemed to be triggered by intense exercise (joe wicks!) and the other a hycosy test. Any info greatfully received x

I have had quite a few of the transvaginal ultrasounds and I bleed after them every time. Most of the time it’s light spotting. When my Endo specialist did the pain mapping I bled for a couple days but not any longer than that. I would definitely see your doctor if it’s been more than a week.

Adenomyosis is very similar to endometriosis except that it grows in the uterus muscle lining. So it can’t be removed like Endo. You have to have a hysterectomy to remove it. It causes the uterus wall to become bulky. I have a super bulky uterus and two fibroids trying to have a party. I find it causes mostly a heavy pain rather than sharp pains. My Endo specialist said that endometriosis is what causes pain and adenomyosis is what causes bleeding. It’s not cut and dry but generally that’s what’s causing what.

Please feel free to ask any questions. At this point I’m a bit of a walking medical dictionary 😂🙈
