Does anyone have any post hysterectomy advice please?

Hi everyone, to give a bit of background, I finally got diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis about 6 years ago after 7 long, heartbreaking and frustrating years of pain and infertility. Since being diagnosed I've had 3 laps and have been on zoladex 3 different times spanning almost two years in total. Yesterday I had a total hysterectomy! I found out after surgery that both my ovaries had been fused to things they shouldn't have been so I have definitely done the right thing. I'm getting very sore now on day 2 but I'll be honest, after I came round from a long sleep after surgery last night I felt completely relieved. I'm sore now and beginning to swell so I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks, I just need them to pass! Can anyone who has previously had a hysterectomy offer any advice please on how to get through the next couple of months? Any tips appreciated. Thanks in advance

I am guessing you may have had open surgery? mine was open because of fusing. First week I found very hard, was black and blue. Couldn't do much for the pain. Started to feel human again on day 4 when I managed a shower. I was a bit slow as my op on first day was v late and they weren't expecting the endo and adhesions so had a bad start. I didn't do much for a couple of weeks apart from sleep, shower, some cooking, needing help to lift things. Take things slowly and don't overdo anything so you heal, just take walks when you're ready x

Hi mrskiki, thanks for taking the time to reply x Luckily it was done without needing open surgery. Thanks so much for the advice and sorry to hear you had such a rough time x

A lady next to me had the keyhole and was much more mobile, it's supposed to be much quicker recovery as no large incision x
