Pain when exercising
Hi,
Is this pain where you cannot even close your legs as it feels like the smallest movement will break something?
I am the same most of the time but I still go ahead and exercise. Have 2 dogs that need to be walked daily which are very active and I play tennis 3 times a week because I enjoy exercise.
One thing I do while this pain hits me is I take my hiking sticks with me for the walk . They do help taking the pressure off a bit and is like holding into someone. Also do a lot of streches before hand to loosen up a bit.
One of the saviours with my pain is the spray magnesium from holland and barret. It does help a lot to manage pain everywhere in the body. Look it up and see if you can start using it.
Also I go and see a chiro which is working on my lower back and hip area to create some space and has greatly helped.
When I spoke to my doctor about it he said is that I am having a flare up and touches the nerves so nothing can be done....
Good luck!
Sorry to hear you're going through this, and you shouldn't feel scared to take it up with the gyno consultant. Mine said that hip and groin pains are usually linked to endo, but could also be caused by another condition (e.g. hernia). I used to struggle with this and found that hip-opening yoga exercises helped. When the pain got too much, I dropped all exercise and focussed on yoga stretches for a few weeks, and over time reintroduced walking to my daily routine. After two years (and some flare-ups), I'm training to run 5k (the NHS programme is great). Don't let endo or medics get you down, it'll get better!!
I have been walking for around 2 miles every day since lockdown and I have slowly built up a bit of jogging. As I was feeling better from doing this I thought I would have a go on my daughters cross trainer and omg it hurt so bad at 5am in the morning I woke up in agony and the pain has continued but not so bad since. Never again. Will stick to gentle walking which really does help my symptoms x
I've been struggling with exercise and even walks for 5 to 10 minutes cause me pain in my left hip, pelvis and down my leg. I think mine might be associated with my left ovary being stuck to my pelvic wall. But also I think it's mainly tight pelvic muscles, which sounds similar to what you are experiencing maybe?
Do you go to a pelvic physio? I found that very helpful. I get given stretches and exercises that cater to my current physical abilities that I can do without triggering a pain flare (or not do if it's a bad pain day). Also I have to take a pain killer before any form of light exercise so I at least make it through.
I'd definitely second the pelvic physio recommendation. If found it really useful in enabling me to exercise properly again. Id lost a lot of movement in my right leg prior to my surgery in 2018 and then suffered horrendous nerve pain for the next year or more. Sometimes we need manual physio not just being given exercises to do at home. Mine has done myofasial release and dry needling on me to release pockets of tightness in my abdomen, back, hip and thigh. I find Pilates really helpful with keeping me moving but being low impact. But yes definitely bring it up with your consultant.
