Does going on the pill help determine endo?

Should I go on the pill to see if my symptoms are suppressed by it? Awaiting a laparoscopy but at the same time we are keen to try for a second baby. I'm nervous to start trying in case symptoms are related to something else gynae related or in case we have complications in pregnancy.

Spoke to gynae consultant and he said he could give me the pill or injection. I dont want the injection but I said I could try the pill f0r a month pr two and see if that helps. Back in the day in my early teens and 20s I was only ever on microgynon.

What are peoples experiences of taking the pill? Does it help, if anything to confirm that symptoms are hormonal?

My pain used to be cyclical but it's almost daily now and is bound up with bowel related issues, difficulties clearing bowel fully, etc... right side up to upper back,

I too am awaiting laparoscopy to confirm endo. I've been put on gedarel pill and have been on this for 3 months now. I find the week leading up to my period my pain is really bad in my abdo mainly right side and lower back into my hips. My period week I get horrendous pelvic cramps and have been bleeding very heavily. For the few weeks between periods my pain is more manageable with pain relief but I dont think the pill has done much for me at all. I'd much prefer to have my mirena coil put back in but as I'm in so much pain I could barely stand having it put in and then it wasnt positioned too low and had it removed. I couldnt bare going through having it put in again so staying on the pill for now. At least with the tablet pill you can change and try alternatives easily whereas the injection you would have to wait for it to run its course.

Hi Priyainindore,

If you are wanting to try for a baby soon then the pill might be the best short term symptom management option.

I have provided below a link to a page on our website that contains useful information on different symptom management methods whilst awaiting laproscopy.
