Hope your all well during this lockdown. I was just wondering if any of you Ladies took mild form of morphine for really bad period pains. Mine are getting worse. It feels like something is trying to kill me. There really bad twisting and stabbing pain. All the time for the full 7 days. The bleeding is horrendous the clots are even worse.
It's the pain I cant cope with anymore. I just want to cry. Do our own gp's prescribe morphine or do I have to ask my gynecologist.
Thanks
Sam

I took codeine (2x15mg) before my laparoscopy as the pain was unbearable and it did work. It also helped me sleep too.
I'd recommend taking a laxative alongside it as it has a tendency to constipate you FAST.
My GP prescribed it to me so I might've said they would be the better choice, but that is not to say your gynaecologist couldn't. You may have to ask and see what they say.
Obviously different things work for different people but I hope you find something that works soon 💕
I had morphine from a GP in December, I didn’t really want it, but decided to keep it knowing lap was coming up for after. I have used it on occasion, has helped with pain at night, not a fan of opioids though. It wasn’t my own GP and I think he may not have given his surprise when I pointed it out. 😆
I usually take ibuprofen but I have stopped the last few weeks because of COVID-19 as ibuprofen lowers your immune system. This has meant I have had to let the pain build up and take codeine instead 😒
Have you tried stronger pain relief in the past? My GP is useless and I’ve had to research pain relief myself and tell him what my plan is and luckily he prescribes me codeine (30mg tablets) and morphine. My pain relief plan is paracetamol and ibuprofen lysine 324mg daily every 4 hours, it helps to keep the edge off and if I’m still struggling after work I’ll take 2 codeine but that just knocks me out for a few hours. Morphine is my absolute last resort.
I suggest you do a bit of research then it’ll be trialing what pain relief you can take. I’ve noticed on here a few people take tramodol, that’s something I’ve tried but give me horrendous headaches (probably due to its high potency) so I tried codeine and that works for me but they both do the same thing.
I'm not based in the UK so not sure about the prescription logistics but the only things that I have found to work are codeine (but as other say, it causes constipation) and tramadol. Unfortunately I was allergic to the tramadol but it was really good for the pain.
I take tramadol for my pain it’s 50mg every 4 hours. I started taking to every 6 hours to help with the pain. It makes me feel a bit sleepy but it does help with the pain.
Hi just read ur post, I used to take tramadol it helped to start with, all I would say is if taking it for the first time just take 1 tablet and dont drive to start with as it can make u sleepy or in my case made me feel like I was on cloud 9 and wanting to go out lol!! But I know it can make some feel nauseous, hope this has helped xx
Codeine makes me feel sleepy and tramadol makes me feel drunk so I mainly took it I’m the evening which is when my pain was worst. Unfortunately it gave me blisters on my throat so had to stop it but it was really great at pain relief and didn’t cause constipation which is a big problem with me with codeine with bowel endo. Thankfully now pain free for a while after surgery in Jan.
Hi, I take Morphine but only when my other tablets aren't helping, at the mo I'm on 2 paracetamol 4 times a day, 2 codeine 4 times a day and 1 naproxen 2 times a day, I'm not sure the doctors will give you Morphine without trying other tablets first, what have you tried so far to help with your pain? I've tried a mixture of tablets with work for a while then I have to change again, I'm also on the depo injection, are you on any contraception? As this can help too. Hope this has been some help to you, your more then welcome to message me if you like. Hope you find something to help you xx
Hi... I had adenomyosis and have endometriosis...i am allergic to NSAIDs....thetefore my GP prescribed morphine within my first year of my diagnosis by the 2nd year I became immune to morphine and gp started me on fentanyl patches combined with morphine for break through pain... the morphine would not work because I had been taking it for too long...the pain team started me on pregabalin and tramadol combined with paracetamol...currently this is what works for me..like it was said earlier everyone's body is different and everyone's endo journey is different...after my hysterectomy last yr the PCA of morphine would not touch my pain...most people when taking opiates become drowsy...luckily my body reacts differently and they give me the energy to get on with life and keep up with my two kids... speak to your gp and see what he//she says...you can ask to be referred to a pain team....good luck with finding your pain relief remedy...hope all my endo sisters are well during the lockdown...xxx
I have oral morphine on repeat prescriptions along with tramadol and codrydomol.
They're certainly not things I enjoy taking but I would be in hospital a hell of a lot if I didn't. My gp just views it is as I have it at home or I have to go to hospital to get it there. As long as you're responsible with it you'll be fine xx
Hi, I'm on oral morphine too as without it I'd end up in hospital. Some days I only take it once during day whereas in a flare I can be on it every 1-2 hours. I react to tramadol and codeine makes me drowsy whereas Oramorph provides relief. My friend with Endo is the opposite to me though with her meds so it's completely different for everyone x
Hi, I have endometriosis and adenomyosis my GP referred me to a chronic pelvic pain clinic and I was prescribed Duloxetine. This really helped my pain. It makes you feel a bit sick for the first 2 weeks while it builds up in your system so I took anti sickness tablets which helped that then. I have been on this for 2 yrs now.
I had a marina coil fitted too a yr ago which has stopped my bleeding as I was desperate it got to the point where I couldn’t leave the house due to constant flooding. I was really apprehensive re the coil but it’s the best thing I did I have my life back.
I still get some pain which I take diclophenic for but it’s manageable. I tried tramadol prior to above it worked but made me feel very drugged up I couldn’t drive taking it.
I've been given cocodamol (codeine based), and codydramol, I found the codydramol to be very helpful. All from my GP. The stronger dose cocodamol is the 30mg one which has to be prescribed. The 15mg one you can buy over the counter at the pharmacy. If not I've found naproxen to be helpful as an anti inflammatory. Hope this helps xx
Codeine is interesting in that your own liver converts the codeine into body made morphine.
Hi, I live in London and my GB prescribed me morphine because I was dying for the pelvic pain and also because my endometriosis is really extended (8 cm chocolate cyst, adenomyosis, 2.5 cm nodules in the rectum, lesions in my right appendix), the pain is unbereable and I cannot have a laparoscopy because of the coronavirus right now. Your GP should prescribe it to you, only you can know who bad the pain is and they should be more empathetic
Hi, I am on Oramorph (up to 4 x 5ml a day) I have been on it for years and find that it no longer relieves my pain so I am currently looking for an alternative. I am on the waiting list to see the pain specialist but a year later, i am still waiting unfortunately.
