Hello endo ladies,

I was just wondering, how do you cope with having to work while your in pain?

I am lucky enough to be able to work from home, but some days like today I am in so much pain, I feel like I just cant cope anymore. The pain seems so relentless and no matter what medication I take it doesnt seem to have much of an effect. I have really bad bowl endo and have had an op where they removed some of my bowel which was being constricted by the endo, but I'm still suffereing. What do you ladies do so you can just manage a bit when your in pain?

Thanks for reading xx

Hi there, sorry to hear you are in such discomfort.

I find that in work when my pain gets bad I take some of my tablets. I tend to stand up and try and walk around. But if it is really uncomfortable I have found that heat pads work just to take the edge off the pain.

Hey! I cant imagine the pain you must be in- bowel endo sounds awful.

I had bladder(and other areas) endo excised in April. The pain was constant- made it hard to think..but eventually tramadol seemed to help with that. I managed to stay at work till Jan (a year to 2 years after my symptoms started).

I started getting kidney pain about 8 months ago..I tried to stay at work but it just became too much..so I've been off since Jan. Morphine helps but I still have pain..

Not sure what painkillers you have tried but I wholeheartedly reccomend going back to docs to say you still in pain. They may be able to prescribe something to help you get through the day. I'm on the 12 hour morphine ,12 hour naproxin and amytryptaline.

Previously tried codiene, nefopam ,tramadol, and instant release morphine.

Massive hugs

Xx

Hi Guys,

Thanks so much for replying.

I am currently taking zormorph 40mgs twice a day and also oramorph for breakthrough pain. It does help a bit but not enough for me to say I'm really comfortable. Maybe I'm just wishing for to much!

This site helps to keep me going when things get tough so thanks again for your replies.

Sending gentle hugs xxx

No that doesn't seem too much to me! I'm also on zomorph!

40mg zomorph on ok days or 60mg on bad days.

1000mg naproxin

Up to 60mg amytryptaline

Your endo sounds way worse than mine so I don't think that you are wishing for too much.. on my meds I still have daily pain..but I can walk around and cope. On the bad days I just stay in bed..The kidney pain is horrendous....so I think you must be so strong to cope !

I'm still considering going back to my gp as I still have pain but waiting until after my renal appointment.

P's sometimes I wonder if zomorph actually works :p or perhaps our bodies are just crap. I've been told by doctors that I have a pain threshold. I reckon many endo sufferers do and perhaps it makes painkillers not work on us !

Hi charms267, I wish I could give you a magic cure but I'm in the same boat as you. I have a very understanding boss who lets me work from home when it's bad but I struggle to stay focused while on painkillers and just want to retreat to bed, with my hot water bottle. My work has a policy of if you have two incidents of sickness within three months they investigate and discipline. It's so unfair for ladies like us.

Have you considered any hormone treatment? I can't as trying to conceive (without success!). But there are a few options that could help. xx

Hi,

So sorry that you are hurting so bad. I'm also lucky enough to be working from home for now, but I know that is still difficult to manage pain. My cysts are on both ovaries and not had surgery yet, although different problems, I can understand how hard it is to manage pain.

I got this amazing painkiller when I went abroad (to my country) though they don't have this medicine here. Ponstant 500, it's an anti inflammatory and painkiller. I also bought myself a TENS machine when I suffered a spinal injury and I use that when I now have my abdominal or pelvic pains, it really helps me. I just have a long hot shower if the pain is not too bad, it helps.

If the pain is very severe then I take a suppository pain killer, again mine I got abroad but it helped me so much before I stopped my periods and used to get the horrible pains in my coccyx. I was told by the Gyno there, that suppository works faster and had quite a strong one.

I hope your GP can give you something that will help you. Nothing worse than constant pain! :(
