Breakthrough bleeding or something else?!

Hi all, I have been taking Cerazette/Progesterone only pill for around 10 years, I am now 26yrs old. It stopped my period for the majority of the years (hoorah!!) however for the past year I have experienced random irregular bleeding, it has been on and off, to start with it was just a couple of days of spotting every 3 months or so. Now, I have had this bleeding start for the past 3 weekends.. It starts off as spotting, then turns really heavy and then nothing and then starts again a day or two later, then nothing for a week or two. I really don't understand what is causing it?! Has anyone had this while on Cerazette?? It seems sooo random that it has just suddenly started happening. Other symptoms are feeling full/bloated all the time, I have had a "stomach ache" since May 2019, I have been on low FODMAP diet since October 2019 as the GP said I just have IBS and it isn't my endo.... I am going off of certain foods, lost a couple of kg's (I only weigh 50kg now but 2 years ago was at 58 when at my gym peak). I also go through phases of having stabbing pains in line with where my hips fold when sitting. Have also had debilitating chest pains at times, this hasn't happened for around a month, but comes and goes. I am not eating as much as I just can't face food sometimes, I used to eat like a pig! lol.

I have since seen a private consultant in January, who has put me on his NHS waiting list for excision. If anyone has had similar, pleeease let me know as I would love to hear. I saw a different GP last week as all of this has really affected my mental health, fits of crying and anxiety and arguments with my partner, she asked how worried I was about ovarian cancer and shut me down saying "First of all, you're too young for that!", my blood boiled....

Any help or advice or stories, much appreciated xx

This sounds very much like what I went through when my pill stopped having any effect; my endo took control.

I wrote a post a while back of what I've been through, it may help, even just to know you're not the only one

Thank you so much for replying, I have just read your story, WOW! Very inspirational, puts my mind at ease a bit more. I am right in the middle of debating do I just stop taking my pill as it is clearly not working the same any more, my worry is that everything will return full force, rather than being irregular like it is now. I can "put up with" my current symptoms, I just don't want to be having hormones put in my body anymore, it was so helpful to read your story!! thank you xx

Awww bless you I am sorry you are having such a rough time.

I have to admit I was on the pill for sometime and then the dr changed me to Cerazette and thats when all my problems started... could be just one of those things but I had to go back on it last year when I had to have the coil removed as it was being pushed out by a large fibroid and Cerazette really does have a bad effect with me, as soon as I started taking it again I was in pain and it just causes me very heavy bleeding for over 18 days that would not stop and even after taking medication to try to stop it did not work.

I now know it's one for me to avoid and my consultant has told me that it doesn't agree with me... I think it would be wise to see if they can give you something else if you can.
