Hi, hope everyone is keeping well, so I've just had my 4th decapeptyl injection, I've been on HRT for about 2 weeks, since being on the HRT I've been having move pains and friday I started spotting and now bleeding! Has anyone else had this happen? I'm more worried about the bleeding as being in a medical menopause I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be happening!! Will probably phone gp Monday, but any advice would be great xx
Bleeding: Hi, hope everyone is keeping well... - Endometriosis UK
Bleeding
I had some bleeding first month on Zoladex, nothing after that.
Probably best to check with a dr, with bank holiday in the way, if you think it’s causing issues, 111 may give advice.
Hi, thanku for ur reply, if it was the first month I dont think I would worry, but as it's now going into month 4 I think I will call them on Tuesday 😉 (not Monday 😂) xx
Due to furlough the days have run into each other 🤣, have to really think what day it is 🙄
Lol I was like this before, so dont know what my excuse is 🤣😂🤪
How are u doing? Have u heard anything else? Xx
I think the amitriptyline is working a bit, not as bad 🤞it’s either that and it’s going all on it’s own 😂, or it’s because I haven’t done much.
I’m waiting for private secretary to get back re an appointment. I want to make sure he’s going to check/treat everything, I want this to be the last time. Not sure if my expectations are too high 🤣
How are the injections going generally?
That would be nice 😂 Fingers crossed u hear something soon. The injections were going ok, it's all gone to pot since starting the HRT 🙄 my pains were reduced so much so that I was nearly off all meds, but I had to start taking the HRT and it seems to upset everything 😒 I saw my specialist about 4 weeks ago and they are going to do the hysterectomy but just need to decide if I'm going to keep what they can save of my left ovary, but I dont really see the point when they think I'll need it removed in 5yrs or under!!
Do u have any idea what they are hoping to do? Did u say they said about a hysterectomy? Xx
Looks like hysterectomy, just want to double check things. I thought he would know everything that had happened, but when I mentioned lap, he didn’t seem to be aware I’d had one already. A couple of other things confused me at the time.
Maybe your GP will change HRT.
How do you feel about hysterectomy?
They dont always fill u with a lot of confidence!! When I was refed from one hospital to another it took me to sort out all my paperwork being sent over 🙄
I'm ok with a hysterectomy as I think it's going to be the best way, I've got my family and I dont want to carry on like this.
I'm going to call the gp tomorrow and ask about the bleeding, I googled it and it says to speak to them if bleeding happens after the 1st injection, oh what fun us women have 😂
How do u fell about having a hysterectomy? Xx
Let us know how it goes with GP
At least mine is the same hospital for both consultants. I’m am wondering what info he’s looked at. I assumed everything (will I ever learn 😂)
I was onboard with having it, now I have questions to ask. He asked what I was after, said hysterectomy and then he’d take it all out, without any hesitation. Said I could wait until natural menopause, but that could be years off still. I need to know if there are other options, just to clarify. He didn’t talk much about any more endo. The first consultant seemed to think further op could be complicated and open, he says he’ll do lap. I need some clarification and that he’ll look everywhere he can for endo.
So spoke to the GP said its normal!! But to call my consultant 🤯 I cant see how it's normal as I'm in a medical menopause and im pretty sure when u go into a menopause u dont bleed 🤔🙄 didnt get to speak to the endo nurse, had to email my consultants secretary as shes still working from home and only working Thursday n Fridays so wont hear bk till then!! But on the plus side the colon department are now starting up and I should hear from them soon 🥳 I just wish something would be easy for once, when u ask someone something they can answer u or do the chasing for u at least 😫🤪 xx
GP didn’t really know, much easier if they said that. If they were sure wouldn’t have said said to contact gynae. They don’t want to step on toes 😂Hopefully you’ll hear Thursday 🤞, and for colon stuff
Micro managing is now a habit 🤣, the doctors likely think a bad one, but they don’t have a remedy for this either.....
Hey! I’m on my 2nd dose of Decapeptyl and I spot every so often. Sometimes I bleed very slightly throughout the whole day
Hi, thanku for ur reply, this is all new, I didnt spot or bleed with any of the other injections which is why I'm wondering if its cos of the HRT. Hope u dont mind me asking, are u taking any HRT? Do u know what stage endo u have? It's just so crap as I was doing ok on decapeptyl 🙄 xx
Yes I’m in HRT and the hot flushes I get are out of this world. I’m only 28 but the menopausal side effects are shit to put it bluntly. I don’t recall my consultant saying what stage. They just sent out a letter saying my surgery has now been bumped up to a Category 2. I’m due another dose of Decapeptyl this week so who knows how my body is going to react xxxx
I totally understand about the hot flushes 🥵 especially with the hot weather we have had!! That's the only reason I started the HRT 2 weeks ago, before that I was doing ok with the pain, but now the pains are coming bk and the bleeding 😫 I'm waiting for a hysterectomy but think I'll be waiting a while as need the colon specialists there too 🙄 oh it's so great being a women!! Hope u here something soon xx
Hi, I was on Decapeptyl for 6 months and I bled at random intervals throughout. My consultant has now put me on Prostap (2 injections in now) with the hope this will work. He said I didn’t have a “fair test” with the Decapeptyl because as it’s a medically induced menopause, we shouldn’t be bleeding.
Your best bet will be to try and talk to your consultant. In my case, the GP has been useless. They don’t know what to suggest and always say to talk to gynae.
I hope this helps a little bit? Always happy to chat! Xx
Hi, thanku for ur reply its definitely helped 😁 I spoke to a GP today and they said its normal 🤔 even though I googled it and that said if u bleed after 1st injection to speak to ur GP!!! They also told me to speak to my consultant lol, I've emailed my consultants secretary (as phones arent manned!! Due to covid19 🤯) but I know I wont hear anything till Thursday or friday as she only works on them days 😫 I'm just so fed up with having to chase all the time, why can't someone just help for once!! That's what I thought about the bleeding, that once u are no the decapeptyl u shouldn't bleed as it's a menopause!
But on the plus side while phoning all the hospital numbers I got one reply bk, the colon specialist are now starting up so and I'm top of the list for an appointment 🥳 just need the endo nurse to call now! Xx
It’s concerning that the GP said it’s normal 😳 If it was going into your second month on it, sure. But as far down the line as you are, it certainly isn’t. My guess is that Decapeptyl isn’t for you and it may be worth trying another brand of the drug. My consultant said it’s a bit like different brands of wine - you can get a rosé from X and a rosé from Y and whilst they are fundamentally the same, some find X tastes better whilst others think Y does. I just really hope the Prostap starts working for me - I’ve got all the awful side effects despite the HRT but it isn’t helping my pain or getting rid of the bleeding! 🙄
I hope it can all get sorted for you soon, lovely. Ultimately, it isn’t good being on this drug if it isn’t working because it could have a negative effect on your body in the long term (ie your bones) Xx
Hi how long did it take for you to start getting the hot flushes etc? I had my first injection 2 and a half weeks ago and I haven't really noticed any side effects apart from I had a really heavy period! I'm still bleeding after 7 days which is usual for me I think my body's having a good clear out lol
Hi, the hot flushes started when I had my 2nd, I was coping ok but with the hot weather I just could cope anymore and the thought of having to go bk to work with them (I work in a school) so I started taking the HRT (my consultant said I had to after my 6th injection anyway) and its definitely helped, but now the pains are coming bk and now bleeding 😫 GP said the pains might be the sudden surge on hormones due to the HRT! Fingers crossed it is, as not sure how much more I can take 🥺 xx
